Qantas Health Insurance - what are the thoughts of those that have it?

FWIW, and a little off topic, but I can't fault BUPA with their hospital insurance. My wife has had a couple of knee replacements this year (separate hospital admissions), and BUPA quite "happily" paid $50,000+ for the experience. Well, at least it didn't come out of our pockets...

New aviation industry ombudsman & customer rights charter in Australia

It's not something I would contemplate.

Cathay now also bans OW FF from pre-selecting seats

From experience, I believe that BA also requires the zeros.

Things Virgin Australia Does & Doesn’t Do Well

What's over engineered about it? A couple of lines of code. My 6 year old granddaughter could do it. But, I have to admit, it's a far better system than what VA are using atm.

    Qantas Sydney International Business Lounge

Yes, I'd do that in a heartbeat, as I do like the EK lounges, but unfortunately I think it will be well closed by the time I get to SYD.

UK rolling out Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA)

January 8, 2025 The UK Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) for Australian citizens came into force on January 8, 2025. This requirement applies to all Australians planning to enter the UK for short stays, and the application process began on November 27, 2024

    Qantas Sydney International Business Lounge

Isn't access being restricted due to the reduced capacity. They might send me back to the FCL (oh horror). I like to have a drink or two before my 2:30 pm flight. and IME the FCL is quite puritanical with its pourings, and not to mention the attitude. I prefer the more Australian pub style of...

Jetstar NZ faulty baggage scales at WLG

Is that possible? Further, I'm sure that Jetstar's management views being worse than Ryanair as a badge of honour. Staff selection must be based on criteria relevant to their attitude to fit in with the Jetstar culture. Prospective prison warders would probably be quite suitable?

Spice bar at Melbourne Qantas Domestic Business Lounge

I do prefer the SYD lounge, but I have to say that the Spice Bar is streets ahead of any food offerings there.

Will you still earn/retain Velocity status beyond 2025?

With those prices, I'd be looking at booking a completely different (quality) airline.

    Qantas Sydney International Business Lounge

I'm flying SYD-CGK in J in Feb and am planning to visit this lounge. I wonder if they'll let me in?

Article: Great Value Turkish Airlines Round-the-World Fares

Like all Middle Eastern airlines (OK, parts of Turkey are certainly bordering ME). Fly them at your own risk, knowing what to expect.

Article: Have Australians Stopped Flying to the USA? Here’s What the Data Says…

Don't know about the stats for Australia, but I've just read in the Guardian UK that bookings from the UK to the USA are up 20% at the moment. Must be the lovely welcome that's possibly in store, (perhaps consider deleting some of your Social Media posts now).

Article: Virgin Australia Finally Refreshes Its Lounge Wines

Sorry, but I think that's wishful thinking. Virgin (Bain and their American consultants) have decided to replace pax who pay for their flights with those that apply for the (several) right credit cards. It's the American way... But no less in number.

Extremely Cheap Etihad Business Class MNL-Italy-SE Asia

Well that may (or not) be correct, but on my flight MNL-AUH in March, most seats in business class are already taken. I think there is a lot of demand for cheap quality bus class setas out of MNL. I've never been on an EY flight out of MNL that hasn't been full in J. But YMMV.

Anyone else get invited to a survey about QFF today?

Yes, and I've declined to respond on the basis I don't want to be blamed when Qantas enhances the FFP based on "feedback". You just can't take Qantas at face value IMO.

    Everyday Rewards Targeted Offers

Well. it seems that Woolies have decided that they're no longer going to offer decent promos, so I for one will no longer be directing my spend to them. Unfortunately, it's our nearest supermarket by a long way, so we do have to pop in for essentials like Panadol.
