For me, the only positive thing I've been able to find with regards to Classic Plus is that, for flights to/from my home town, Classic in J is often better value than Y in Classic Plus... I've previously felt I needed a good reason to fly business instead of economy on a short daytime...

My flight to MEL has changed to the A220 so the flight number is now QF1299. Gem56 will already be in Melbourne staying with family. She will be departing on QF466 with me and we're both staying at the Sebel in Kew.

Thanks for pointing this out. I wonder if it also works via Avios? I've noticed a near total lack of award flights on the QF website from CFS to SYD unless booking months in advance. For example, there are currently no CR seats in Oct or Nov, only C+ and I refuse to pay those prices. That...

I'm well aware of that but the OP hasn't stated that they are only looking for a Oneworld award (despite that being the title of this thread). Seems to me they just want to get there using QF points.

As @MEL_Traveller says, they don't need to be oneworld hubs; just somwhere a Oneworld airline OR Qantas partner flies to/from. What Aus city are you hoping to depart from? Which destination airport are you open to? Is EK acceptable (higher points & taxes)? Stopover or straight through?

You need to look at transiting via less popular hubs. Try CGK MNL KUL TPE BLR DEL etc.

Except it doesn't cover pre-existing medical conditions.

As @Human said it's pretty much instant but you do have to link your accounts first so that's an added step. Best not to leave the transfer to the last minute.

Just bit the bullet and transferred some Amex to CX. Some of those points were from a sign-up bonus. It will be interesting to see if the 10% bonus comes through on all the points (I'm thinking that they will all count). I'll post the outcome here but I don't think there will be an answer...

Of course a card like the Explorer or Ultimate that come with a travel credit equal to or exceeding the annual fee is a different proposition. But I agree that the value proposition for all cards is becoming more marginal all the time. Take me back to the good old days.
