Help with Taxes for Qantas Award booking

I think Philippine law has long since changed. I just checked Krisflyer awards, for a route with multiple star alliance options MNL-FRA. If on Singapore Airlines own metal, they don't charge fuel surcharges, as is the policy across their network. Same with Air India. Taxes come to about...

    SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

TBH would never request a birthday cake for myself. Would for others but not myself. The only time I’ve ever had one was when my partner requested one for my 50th birthday - on the actual day - when we were travelling in First to FRA on SQ.

Jetstar NZ faulty baggage scales at WLG

Perhaps not quite so ingrained in the far western part of the country as it is elsewhere. But OP was at ZRH airport not GVA, so yes surprising.

Article: Have Australians Stopped Flying to the USA? Here’s What the Data Says…

Who's blaming the data? It might well be good data in the context of a frequent flyer forum, but I think in the context of a thread that has the title "Have Australians Stopped Flying to the USA?", it really isn't helpful at all, and therefore rather meaningless.

Article: Have Australians Stopped Flying to the USA? Here’s What the Data Says…

When you see numbers thrown around like 20% (if it’s annual) I just don’t believe it. Unless there’s been some significant external factors - or major increases in capacity -you don’t get those sort of changes from year to year on major traffic routes.. Maybe it would be easier to believe for...

    What cheeses me off

An airline booking reference (PNR code) that starts with DUD. Given that it's into and out of New York mid February ...... Is the airline trying to give me a hint? 🤣 (OK not really cheesed off, more amused, but if I were a little superstitious I'd be worried about that booking ...)...

Article: Airlines Get Away With So Much By Fobbing Off Complaints

What's there to wonder about? Of course they're designed that way. Someone has thought about it and deliberately introduced steps to discourage or at the very least delay compensation claims.

    Jetstar adds Melbourne - Colombo

Although TBH 400USD is chump change compared to what accommodation costs across a lot of the US these days. That's about the same as the "resort" or "destination" fee for a two rooms (for a family of 4) in Vegas for a what 4-5 days?

JQ Avalon expansion. DPS/ADL/BNE double daily.

No airbridges, and When boarding from the tarmac, would it really matter? I assume pax will be at the international gate and then walk to their aircraft. Look at how AVV is configured on satellite view of Google maps.

I always assumed that China knows exactly who it doesn’t want to let in and those people know it so don’t even try. Whereas with the US , whilst there’s a solid base of people they don’t want to come in that doesn’t change and for the rest it depends on what the President ranted about on Social...

    Jetstar adds Melbourne - Colombo

They have a lot of extra economy and a few extra PE seats vs a standard aircraft, but lose 40 or so lie flat business class seats, that bring in what $10K per return flight? It's hard to see it working but who knows, it some time off anyway. In any event for the Australian traveller, Las...

    Jetstar adds Melbourne - Colombo

For me, I'm OK with it. As long as I have an aisle seat in the middle bank of 3. But agreed, totally brutal if in window or middle seat.

    Qantas adds OOL-AKL and SYD-AKL-APW

To be fair, compared to NZ's offering (no business class) and obviously JQ's on the route, it does offer a premium option in terms of domestic business class.

Article: Let’s Talk About Airline Meals on Overnight Flights…

Yes , this has been the case for at least 20 years, and is the same for services to MEL (01:45 and 21:50 departures, but not the 19:20) , BNE (00:55, but not the 21:35), and PER (00:25). Also in the other direction to SIN from MEL (00:35), BNE (23: 25) and PER (01:15). Interesting that SQ...

    Jetstar adds Melbourne - Colombo

That's a pain, yes. Although for those of us fortunate enough to be able to access a Qantas Lounge before departure, sometimes I get a can of drink from the fridge, and forget to drink it before I leave the lounge ;) Can come in handy for this problem. Yes it is (like any other flight in...

Yes they should be able to use the bag drop. For getting through departures, to gate and through security the biggest variable is how close the gate is to immigration. I'd say 30 minutes would cover it even with teens - and to the furthest gate. It's 5-10 mins for immigration, including...

    Jetstar adds Melbourne - Colombo

I've seen quite a few people enjoying a "snack" every hour in Jetstar med-long haul (usually a liquid snack !). When it’s say $300 less than a full service carrier, that gives you a bit of cash to splash to compensate for the lack of free snacks.

    Jetstar adds Melbourne - Colombo

It’s easy to do so with your own snacks, and/or paying for your own meals and/or purchasing a suitable bundle as you see fit. They have service. It’s just not free.
