Qantas Project Sunrise goes ahead, 12 new A350-1000s ordered

The other main complaint with QF4 is that you essentially eat three breakfasts 🙂 A continuous flight would manage that better (well, no, it could be better managed now, but ah well). That will be interesting. There aren't a huge number of Y seats on the Sunrise aircraft, but if anything it...

US Air Travel Issues (Government Shutdown Oct - Nov 2025)

I'm sort of more surprised that there is flying still proceeding for that matter. I suppose not every ATC is just walking off the job, even if they could. Maybe some think that they will be sacked if they did, or even worse, a la the great ATC strike from many decades ago.

Qantas Project Sunrise goes ahead, 12 new A350-1000s ordered

That's an interesting thought. So instead of having to do the whole process of getting ready to land at a stop, disembark, go through security again (after doing all your transit stuff like lounge or use the bathroom), re-embark, wait for cruise and then resume as before, you can dispense all...

US Air Travel Issues (Government Shutdown Oct - Nov 2025)

All of USA except Montana is at-will employment. Basically you can get sacked for any reason, even if your boss doesn't like you're breathing today. There are only a few exceptions for at-will dismissal (e.g. discrimination, retaliation, etc.) or where legally bound by an employment contract...

Qantas Project Sunrise goes ahead, 12 new A350-1000s ordered

Part of the irony of some of the stops of the days of old was that, on some of them, disembarkation was not required (or didn't happen). I thought I remember taking a TPAC flight on QF one time and we made a stop in NAN, before reaching HNL (before then going onto SFO). I can't remember it...

Airport security confiscated an empty water bottle

Well, the vendors would be making a motza (and I guess so would the airport, as a corollary). Especially at SGN where all purchases (airside) are charged in USD (and they damn ain't cheap - I know!).

    Which Android phone next?

That's kind of the funny thing about it - you look at the specs and you can barely tell the difference. Once you drill down past the surface, you see differences in the makes of the chipsets (CPU, GPU etc.), the UIs, the bloatware you can expect and so on, but unless you understand how subtle...

    Which Android phone next?

Currently a Samsung S22+ user, coming up to four years now. For those that have bought an Android recently, what did you get? Is there something you know you will be getting for your next phone? Been with Samsung for ages now. Not married to the brand; they just happen to be good for what I...

    Jetstar launches Newcastle to Bali

That's one very busy 32Q! Nary a breath on either end... delays will have horrid knock on effects there. Guess now they can market NTL will have a SIN connection. Even though it's JQ, I suppose it's only right to celebrate that there is a new route. Not sure what the target market for NTL-SIN...

    New Amex statement credits

I got this offer and just paid BCC rates through Sniip with the Amex. Transaction has turned up on Amex appearing as BCC MOBILE APP BRISBANE, not prefixed with SNIIP as is usually the case with other payments I've made with Sniip. Naturally, no bonus points. What have I done wrong?

What makes a good airport and what's your favourite?

SIN and HKG obviously stand out as clear favourites, but there are definitely some things that work in their favour. They don't have any domestic flights for one, or any flights where the customs conditions can change (e.g. Schengen vs non-Schengen, EU vs non-EU). HKG may be arguable with the...

Cathay Pacific Cancel Free within 24 hours of Booking - Caveats!

They want to push their (CX) frequent flyer programme. No mercy for you if you don't book following the rules, including using your CX number on the booking. But once the eligibility window passes, as mentioned you could always change the frequent flyer number to any other programme, including QF.

    Virgin are losing the plot.

Put the luggage into storage and then have an excursion or something planned for the whole day. You can return at 5 pm and then have a leisurely dinner after chilling, or even at 7 pm, have dinner, return to hotel, then saunter to the airport. Anyway, beats me. VA are taking a chance people...

KrisFlyer devaluation beginning Nov 1st 2025

PPS members should definitely have a lot more leverage in this regard. Not sure about Saver, but sometimes it's not a case of Saver vs Advantage (vs Access), it's just is there any availability at all (unless you have cash to pay). Having talked to someone in the Suites cabin when I was...

    Virgin are losing the plot.

You must mean the CNS-MEL redeye. And wow... that will hurt a bit. At around just over 3 hours, it's not too dissimilar to a PER-MEL redeye. Both hurt, but I guess you've found out why some people will still fly it. I'd say you'd struggle to get your full day in MEL unless you're running on...
