    Scams like these

You should just tell them what bank interest rates are on deposits. That'll send them searching elsewhere!

    Grammar Discussions

My rudimentary grasp of Italian (which never stopped me from having a go) saw me ask a very nice assistant for strawberry - which is fragola. I of course mixed it up with another word starting with F. Nearly fainted when I realised what I'd said! He was very amused and the next day when we again...

Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

I think they should publish photos of these drongoes in the paper - like the 2 women from Sydney who flew into Melbourne. Let their family friends and workmates see how little they care for others and are willing to put lives and livelihoods at risk for no better reason than they can get away...

    Another Winter in Tasmania.

We used to have a holiday house at Flinders, on the Mornington Peninsula - the house was in Bass St. A new house was built further up the street and the new people put up their street number and the name "Aswarby". The owner was astonished when I knew the name. At high school our houses were...

    Tassie It is

Regardless of their crimes, you can't help feeling sorry for the convicts incarcerated on Sarah Island in the middle of a Tassie winter. No thermals windproofs or all weather boots. We had them all and were still cold!

The view or two from my "office"

Just catching up on this thread - had a rushed 3 days in Hobart - to attend a wedding right here on Sunday. A beautiful spot & lovely occasion - we'd hoped to snatch 10 days to wander but wrangling grandchildren was the priority. I must never have travelled much when our kids were little. Or...

The view or two from my "office"

Sanctuary Cove for many years was our favourite holiday destination. Loved the surroundings, atmosphere & service. In the very beginning they had little club lounges dotted around with a happy hour - you'll recall it's built in what was a pretty swampy area so a wonderful breeding ground for...

The view or two from my "office"

Grr now I've got that rotten theme song stuck in my ear - 'Robin Hood, Robin Hood, riding through the glen......'I assume it was from the original tv series & it's driving me mad that I can't think of the British actor's name. Curly hair and a dimple.

My girlfriend worked for them as a sales rep when they started which is around 50 years ago. She had such a battle, It was so hard for people to understand what this new thingy called a credit card was. I recall another friend coming back from America in the early 70s & pulling out his wallet...
