Not much from Woolworths lately, I’m on my third month of Coles 4 week 10000 offer. Coles have gained about $1000 of spend from me in this time period which I otherwise would have spent at Woolworths.

I assume our airlines are not as generous as other nations with compo when bumping people to the next available?

I’d imagine some of the NZ increases is due to negotiating new deals with some NZ airports who are upping fees considerably, likely part of a wider deal.

They certainly have faced a whole bunch of new competitors in recent years, no doubt it’s a wafer thin margin business with high overheads (staff, head office costs)

I know they are VA flight numbers but are these all flown by VA pilots? I can’t imagine intra south American flights would be too familiar to local Va crews. I know Alliance/Network used contractors to get the aircraft ferried over.

Only if they change the flight. I had a 10 min change and they let me refund it.

I’d say considering the issues in recent times it would be wise to extend the Finnair crews for as long as possible while they have the offer available, even above the dry leases.

I recall reading that it takes 18-24 months to reap the benefits, that is using them on longer missions. They are certainly everywhere in the US

If you are inbound over NT or QLD when these things happen there isn’t many places one can divert to.

I think that might be the right approach initially. Gives them the opportunity to lean in to that market when it starts to pick up. They will be able to walk in and pick up a good share when it starts to become a bigger market, plus let the others test the market to work out what the market out...
