What’s the most difficulty you’ve had with getting a visa?

I have to say that these days, if I need to apply for a visa in advance (VOA is OK), I just don't go. Doesn't worry me at all. and probably keeps me safer. It was different when I worked for DFAT over 30 years ago, as they handled all the paperwork, for several places I wouldn't go to now as a...

Oman Air joins Oneworld in 2025

The whole thing is a bit of a shamozzle. I have a Qantas J award ticket on WY for next week, KUL-MCT-LHR. I hope everything is in order with this ticket. However, without ringing the Omanair customer support desk in Muscat, who could know? The Qantas website errors out when I try to access the...

Is Qantas deliberately giving incorrect refunds?

After previously speaking to several agents in the offshore call centres (with no apparent results), I thought I'd give it another try this morning, and was lucky enough to get a helpful and knowledgeable agent in the Hobart call centre. She said that she would get it fixed while I waited on the...

Japan overtakes the USA for fourth spot in favored destinations for Aussies

I've been to Okinawa several times, and it does have some nice beaches (not as nice as Oz IME). It also has a lot of US Marines, which tends to taint the ambience a little.

Is the Australian Landing Card Still Necessary in the Written Form?

I'm not sure who would argue that, but some entities come to mind.

Jakarta transit - visa still required

Rare indeed. I've done it a couple of times, but obviously only with a BP in hand. You first of all have to find the transfer desk, then find the person who should be manning it and then convince them that they should be helping you. But that's the fun of CGK. Is it worth $50 I wonder?

Oman Air joins Oneworld in 2025

Qantas doesn't care . It's a monopoly (well it thinks it is).

Is Qantas deliberately giving incorrect refunds?

I tried to cancel a reward booking online a couple of weeks ago. Well, the good old Qantas website refused to cancel it and just kept erroring out. So I had to phone the call centre and got a bit of a runaround, but eventually I was told that it had now been cancelled and I could expect my...

Major changes to Velocity Frequent Flyer announced 17/10/24

I'm QF WP, and will be for the foreseeable future (hopefully). I'm also VA Plat and like many others, I'm letting it bleed out. And, like you, I'm also a *G member, (for life) so I don't care a jot about losing access to VA lounges via Velocity. UA *G will help me out there, as long as the...

    Scams like these

Gee, that's adventurous. What's gas, by the way If I got a gas bill I'd be concerned.

    Qantas Classic Plus devaluation

I don't care one little bit about the CR+ devaluation. I would never use CR+, I'd rather just purchase a ticket (probably not on Qantas). Good luck to those that do, but they should really know better. Just my point of view. YMMV.

Article: Why Airports Reveal Gate Numbers at the Last Minute

It happens at most of the London terminii, especially for the longer distance trains. For example, London Victoria. You just have to have your wits about you (and keep your phone safely out of sight).

Have you topped up a UK pension to cover gaps?

I don't think I'll be joining,, with my AUD 5K pa British pension. 2.5% of nothing is nothing. I guess I'll just have to rely on my indexed Comsuper and Australian Age Pensions.

    Eurostan

I've flown TK J quite a few times long haul. From CMB and CGK to IST and back quite a few times, and I've found the service to often be quite lackluster, especially from the male flight attendants, who can be rather authoritarian and defenders of the faith (IMO). TK is indeed quite a conflicted...

No Light Rail to Gold Coast Airport

Sounds good, but... How many people would actually want to do that? And lug their luggage onto the 760 bus (which would inconvenience almost everyone else). And that's if the 760 came along on time or if at all. Well, that might be your preference, but I'd rather get the tram at Helensvale and...

ING removing Orange Everyday Montly eligibilty requirements

Yes, this appears to be all good on the face of it, but one wonders what will happen tp ING's interest rates as a result.

I guess you're talking about the past, not the future.

    Qantas Points Club Discussion

Everything landed today for me. Hotel and wine vouchers, 150 SC's and 5,000 points. What's not to love. Well, apart from the awful experience I had a couple of days ago trying to cancel a domestic points resevation. That's for another thread I guess.
