I am taking a wait and see approach. I think they'll keep it an annual fee free card in one form or another....it may lose some features in the free version...
They've moved status assessments to the calendar year. As part of the transition, they appear to have extended the status from the membership date to the end of next year.
Come January 1, those nights will reset to zero, and you'll have to get to 60 again in 2026. So basically, will be starting from nothing. Although, if you have a October renewal, you'll get another 30 nights when you renew.
The only timeframe that changed was to move the status onto the same calendar year as everyone else. The ALL Accor+ Explorer still matches your Accor Plus, just that you won't have a statis assessment done when you renew.
If you've used your Stay Plus you'll get two when you renew next year.
It's confusing but the way they do it.
The membership type number will have changed (the first six digits)
For Accor Plus it was 308409
For ALL it is 308103 - the
For ALL Accor+ Explorer it is 308616
If you find the two cards in the APP, they'll have these two numbers.
The 7th digit is...
It's all a bit odd. First the Loyalty Gift, and now this. Harks back to the pandemic days (remember that?)
They've got to be seeing something in their numbers...
The categories are a bit odd, but for platinum:
Entertainment : 6 months pressreader or print some photos
Culture: one year of Wall St Journal
+ donate to some charities
They just changed the status date to be on the calendar year (ie same as everyone else).
The Explorer+ date remains what the Accor Plus date would have been, no change there.
Anyhoo, I just get to look at a blank screen! So I don't know what my state of affairs is!
This is the crux of the surcharging rules - you can surcharge on an observable/verifiable fee. That is, someone could go into the accounts, and observe that the business paid a fee for handling credit card payments. But, they need to be able to points to an invoice or statement to validate it.
