There's a surprisingly good amount of AA J classic reward availability from AKL to LAX in December at the moment. You can even go in the week before Christmas. It's 113,900 QFF points + NZD132.61 in J one-way for AKL-LAX.

It is an ongoing offer, and so yes, it would make sense to use this at the most ideal time for your travels. That said, Turkish Airlines could of course alter the deal (or end status matching altogether) at any time. It doesn't owe anyone anything.

I can choose a PE seat on these flights now as a Platinum member. If there are any Gold members here, they could check to see whether they can also do this and report back. You don't have to actually complete the booking to view the seat map.
