Tariffs? What are ...oh yes I remember now, my parents had to buy my transistor radio in Singapore, too dear in Australia. As tariff reductions have enabled growth without inflation, will tariff increases risk recession with inflation? And how do you then control inflation if you're already in...

Discussion on Cats, Moggies and Felines in general [with Pictures]

Cats and their love for boxes! I collect a new one about weekly from the supermarket which they always try out, but I can't throw away Otis's old favourite. Like old jeans, love 'em but they no longer fit!

So... what car do you guys drive when not flying?

Had similar experience, usually happens when car in front has almost but not completely completed its turn. So that car appears to be almost stopped wrt its apparent speed in the same direction as you, which is not its actual speed. I suspect software not developed enough, and also to know that...

So... what car do you guys drive when not flying?

That's very bad luck, a seal replacement after only 24k km. Obviously a manufacturing fault that took 4 years to deteriorated to the point of leaking; usually lasts the life of a car. Mercedes have had recalls. I also have a B out of warranty, 50k km, only issue is wheel sensor gone a few...

Qantas rolls out Classic Plus Flight Rewards

I disagree, if goods/services are on sale but the points/method of purchasing those is not, then it is deceptive to claim that the points/method of purchasing is on sale. Adding... but I wouldn't go to court about it, I'm just the man on the Bondi tram ordinary person

Qantas rolls out Classic Plus Flight Rewards

From the ACCC site .. Ways that a displayed price can be misleading Promoting a price as being a sale or special price, when it is actually the normal price.

Qantas rolls out Classic Plus Flight Rewards

Did Tansy rewrite the original "This journalist was pleasantly surprised to find..." ? Edit: I've just got round to reading the Weekend Australian where Tansy is the supposed writer. The Australian website bio of her states that she " has previously...worked in strategy at Qantas."

Credit Card Offers HSBC Star Alliance Credit Card: Fast-Track to Star Alliance Gold Status

I'll be sorry to cnl this card, I get some value but not $499pa value. I phoned HSBC cards to confirm last day to cancel before $499 fee is due, was surprised... My 1st statement last year was 10April -8May, was told that the $499 annual fee will be charged on 8 May 2025. To be sure, I...

    Accor Plus Membership Discussion

Not your father's fault imo. I'm trying to check my auto renewal settings, this is a screenshot from their help page, but when I click on "profile" an almost identical page is displayed but without a "manage your payment plan". All I can do is ensure no credit card is linked.

I bought in the float but sold, fortuitously, about a decade ago only because it was a very small holding. But "Infrastructure" is usually a good, stable, dividend provider. Might be a good entrance price for a superannuation stock.

WOW/COL/WES up today presumably expecting interest rate cut tomorrow, but banks down. I wonder why, I would have thought that they would likewise be beneficiaries.

This really is a "prisoner's dilemma" game isn't it. If everyone bid the minimum, the same total number of people will be successful, but at a lower price. Fascinating.

    Amex Rejection earning $300k

Maybe a generalisation by them, as I've had wbc black approved twice since retiring, latest a few months ago. But I do have income. So I don't think employment status, or lack thereof, is very relevant. I also believe that the source of income is factored, eg (and I'm just making up the %...

What are you reading right now?

I think he was pilloried for doing that, but made a lot of money nevertheless. State Library NSW has a (complete!) 1st edition and later editions too, were on display last year. More recently many old books were lost, broken up just to sell off the hand coloured plates. Coincidently just this...
