    AFF Member Stock Discussion

Star SGR lodged an asx announcement, got $300m from Bally, looks like it will survive with existing shareholders relinquishing 70% (and paying 9% interest). A good outcome under the circumstances, better than the Chinese offer. All still subject to, approvals...blah blah

Yes on the flip side, some US imports from Australia will now be RELATIVELY cheaper than US importing the same goods from most other countries. Opportunity for which asx companies?

Er, no it's not like for like. GST doesn't distinguish between domestic and imported, so is not an impost on just international trade to favour domestic production.

Uber drivers at CNS routinely cancelling rides to manipulate surge pricing

Yes that's annoying, but it seems that in the majority of cases Uber won't let the driver know what they are accepting until after. The rider gets a price, and can take it or leave it. Same for the driver surely. I don't think one should get cranky with a person for refusing to be exploited.

Uber drivers at CNS routinely cancelling rides to manipulate surge pricing

That's a bit Rich. No-one should expect a business to run at a loss or work for almost nothing. I think drivers have every right to refuse if Uber have set the price too low (or take too high a cut). The Uber model makes both the driver and rider "price takers" i.e. take it or leave it is the...

Seems so. But murky if they're applying one's stated overall investment risk appetite to a single investment...eg one might be a conservative investor but still have a small flutter on a startup, or conversely be a big investor in Bitcoin but still want some bank term deposits. Buy on market?

They've oversold our cruise! And we got the offer!

Great choices, lucky you! Contrast that with (in Australia) airline notifying you weeks out that J seats are overbooked, and their offer is...🙁 I wonder though after you choose an offer, that it may not necessarily be guaranteed if others get in earlier or select options that are cheaper for...

ANZ Platinum card- trying to understand Car rental insurance coverage

Not I, but my brother claimed a few months ago. In cns, shopping centre carpark, doors scraped and small dint, no note, $3500 repair cost. Painless claiming, you pay 1st then anz reimburses less a small excess I think. The anz insurance is repairs only, they won't cover hire company's claim for...

    1Cover - requiring pre-payment / going hard on pre-existing conditions?

Hi Lucy, welcome to aff. As the journalist apparently may not have done her research properly, perhaps you could fill in the gaps. - Since "Payment was never refused by the insurer" why did the hospital require, not just a cr card, but full payment, from the patient, a few days after the 1st...

    1Cover - requiring pre-payment / going hard on pre-existing conditions?

From the 1Cover web site... "High blood pressure (also called hypertension) is a common pre-existing medical condition. This doesn’t necessarily mean you can’t get travel insurance, but you need to disclose your condition when you’re booking your travel insurance" Not saying that the policy...
