I thought it was only card network/card type/merchant type that determined the fee for merchant, not tap/swipe/insert. Apple/google pay is different again of course. As long as the plastic is there, wouldn't the fee be identical?

If you are trying to use points for those stays, are you sure they will qualify for the fast track promo? Some of my reward nights seem to have but I'm not not sure if they are supposed to (there is a $30/night minimum, and I don't know how that works with points nights in the fine print)
