VA withdraws all services from Hong Kong

You are not being unfair. If we compare it to Qantas withdrawing from Beijing (the original business decision to withdraw, not the current situation) they offered: Rebook to Qantas services via Hong Kong for travel +/- one (1) day from original booking Rebook to Qantas marketed services to...

VA withdraws all services from Hong Kong

Yes. It is just really poor. They don't seem to have any appreciation that people have a need to be places and refunds don't help. It's different if it is out of their hands, but they made a business decision (as they are entitled to do), but then have arbitrarly chosen a date and decided to...

VA withdraws all services from Hong Kong

Just called them, and they could only do a refund. Couldn't even transfer me to Singapore... they would have to cancel and then rebook. There's only a few thousand velocity points difference, it's just so petty they aren't allowed to do it. No problemos cancelling a route for commercial...

VA withdraws all services from Hong Kong

Yes it is terrible. They have options they could provide and seem to lazy to offer it. Leaves a poor taste. I won't say I'll never fly with them again, because I will. But they won't be my first choice and my next credit card will be back with QF

VA withdraws all services from Hong Kong

I'm not sure what's odd about it. The carrier should honour forward bookings by using other carriers to get it's customers to their destination. Apparently though, Virgin thinks passengers booked after 30 April should not be looked after (I'm one of them). Pretty appalling commercial policy.

Yep, because that's the only reason people choose an airline...

What "lessons" will VA learn from today's changes to QF's FF program?

But what can VA offer to entice customers to aim for platinum, let alone LTP. Gold seems to be enough with VA. QF has separate lounges in places, a few F lounges and OW partners with F lounges - lifetime access to these may seem useful to some.

Lounge access - minus my QF Club Card?

Hello all, Query for the experienced... I'm overseas and realised I have left my QF Club Card at home! I have a few flights coming up: LHR - DXB (EK with QF code) DXB - AMM (EK with QF code) DXB - LHR (QF) What are the chances of getting into the QF lounge at LHR and Emirates Lounge Dubai...

Can Qantas still be classed as a truly 'International' Airline?

Cathay is the choice there I think. Better lounges at Hong Kong for status holders. On the OP's subject, would be great to see some more QF destinations in Europe. But realistically, the most I think we will ever see is Paris, Frankfurt and London.

    QF announce non-stop Perth-London B787 Services

Re: Qantas: non-stop Australia (Perth)-Europe (London) Boeing 787 flights set to soar Your impression is correct. Still not many flights for the time-being.

Oneworld Classic Flight Reward Discussion - The Definitive Thread

Seems pretty good. Can't go too wrong in J! Obviously QF and BA will add some dollars to the 'tax' portion, but what can you do.

Oneworld Classic Flight Reward Discussion - The Definitive Thread

When I was booking AY for March next year, BKK was still coming up A330. Might be different now. Good choice on HKG with great lounges and no need to go via Japan if you've already tried it out! When I did AA 777 it was JFK to LHR. But looking at forums suggest award seat availability on...

Oneworld Classic Flight Reward Discussion - The Definitive Thread

If looking for AY350, you might want to avoid BKK as last time I checked they were still using A330's on that route. HKG seemed pretty good for AY availability when I was booking... or if you are looking at trying products, you could try and get on JAL's 787 to HEL and then AY350 to LHR. Or...

Oneworld Classic Flight Reward Discussion - The Definitive Thread

Is this a 140Y or 280J award? I would have thought you might have issues with: 14.3.5 A Classic Flight Reward Itinerary must contain no more than one departure from the city or country of first departure on that Itinerary.

    QF announce non-stop Perth-London B787 Services

QF is 90 minutes shorter overall trip. PER stopover around 2 hours. SIN stop-over is 4hours (which is still fine). Main selling points for QF are daily flights and late night arrival into Canberra which I like for jet-lag. SQ of course has A380 for some LHR-SIN leg flights and it has better...

    QF announce non-stop Perth-London B787 Services

If I was flying QF, I'd happily fly this sector eastbound from London as it connects well onto CBR bound flights and I don't think 15hrs is that bad. Towards London I'd probably prefer going via DXB as 17hrs followed by a 5am arrival doesn't appeal to me. But if the CBR-PER flight was re-timed...

    QF announce non-stop Perth-London B787 Services

Yep - so fuel prices are low and airlines respond accordingly... they go up and they re-assess things. That's what a business should be doing.

Not too many flatbed regional products out there... particularly on the European end.

    QF announce non-stop Perth-London B787 Services

Noting that Singapore will soon be restarting non-stop Singapore - New York flights with the long-range A350. So clearly they see the benefit of long-range non-stop flights too.
