Crediting points and status from Etihad

I think with that kind of thinking you are just going to miss out, and it will become a bit of a negative loop of many people do this - it will hurt this partnership. I have been flying EY this year, and am also booking for Q1 next year already.

Crediting points and status from Etihad

I have never been able to add VA number to booking (maybe it's because I am an Etihad Guest also), so I have always asked them to do it in the website support chat, which has always worked.

    Middle East Airspace Diversions/Cancellations

What do you guys think about the broader implications about losing access to Russian as well as ME airspace within the context of Qantas' project sunrise? It will significantly limit them route-planning wise, and will at the very least disallow them some efficiencies depending on weather, and at...

Issues with using Velocity for J tickets originating US to Australia

I don't know why, but I feel like this is every airline and even every reward program - it's always easier to find rewards outgoing than incoming. No idea why.

What's the deal with 2025 EU early bird sale?

Howdy I've been overseas, but this September like clockwork, the early bird sale for 2025 Europe dropped. For context, in the last several years, I've managed to pick up return J flights for 5.6k in 2022, then 5.9k in 2023, and finally 6k in 2024 - covering various airports (usually some...

What is up with Etihad's Australian operations?

After visiting the first class lounge at Abu Dhabi, I think I'll just always travel EY now, will utilise this plat benefit as long as it lasts. Frequently their flight has a long layover which is perfect, can sleep for $100 in the hotel (way better value than business class or premium economy...

Abu Dhabi Terminal A - Etihad and other lounges

Just transiting through Abu Dhabi for a nice 14 hours, thought I'd post this up here instead of making a new thread. Arrived just a hair after midnight. I had a 6 hour booking at the AUHotel, so went there straight away. Don't make the mistake of lining on on the ground level, take the...

Have Virgin cancelled the 'Fly Ahead' benefit again?

I have been told by VA staff that it must be done at the check in or luggage counter (ie. pre-lounge) recently - not sure how accurate that is, or perhaps it's only if you have checked luggage.

    SQ to operate into WSI

I doubt it would count, especially seeing as how it didn't exist when those agreements were written. I think QR would jump at this opportunity, and I'm sure the government would welcome them with open arms.

    Western Sydney Airport (WSI) Discussion

Pointless to have built that airport there then - that would be a truly disastrous outcome.

    SQ to operate into WSI

Given the airport is 24x7 - why not do a middle of the night flight to give people more time options?

    SQ to operate into WSI

I'm sure the fees will be cheaper, and maybe even some intro sweeteners - they can create demand by aggressively discounting flights, backed by airport rebates.

SQ321 LHR-SIN Encountered Severe Turbulence [At least 1 Fatality and 30 Injured]

Yours is a philosophical point of view more so than a practical one. Once again - what is the definition of bad turbulence? How can we predict it? I think we can all agree it's not really possible. My only point here has been that SQ did not get the balance right on their initial overreaction...

Sydney Metro Chatswood to Sydenham line now open

It's good, but we need way more - many more lines, and all existing lines modernised to the new standard. 24x7 driverless trains will be cheap to run, and aid the 24x7 economy Sydney has been longing for.

SQ321 LHR-SIN Encountered Severe Turbulence [At least 1 Fatality and 30 Injured]

I don't think we're ever going to agree on most of the things, but to this point - isn't it obvious what SQ has done - which is try and toe a middle ground of risk, in that they are willing to have flight attendants to take marginally more risk in order to deliver the expected amount of service...

SQ321 LHR-SIN Encountered Severe Turbulence [At least 1 Fatality and 30 Injured]

This is all very arbitrary. Who defines what is too much risk? What are the thresholds? Is it personal judgement? Can we get an AI to be an impartial judge? What is the definition of "high enough risk" as well? Obviously SQ doesn't feel like there is equivalence between flight attendants and pax...

What is Virgin Australia's strategy (post-administration)?

Yes, float = float on the market, in other words via IPO (or SPAC, but we don't do that anymore). Yes, Bain can sell whatever portion of the company to whomever they want - bearing in mind, the more stake it sells, the harder it will be to align interests in terms of running the company until...

SQ321 LHR-SIN Encountered Severe Turbulence [At least 1 Fatality and 30 Injured]

What exactly can we learn? What is your solution? I agree it is unpredictable, and nobody knows when it will happen, which is why I reiterate once more... Unless you want to strap everyone in for 100% of the time of the flight, there is nothing to be done - you simply have to accept the risk...
