My experience with VA has consistently been that the card fee is not refunded, and this is across different card issuers and networks. FWIW, the fare and the card fee appear as separate transactions as part of the original purchase. The refund amount matches the fare charge.

As others have mentioned, the seat itself is exactly the same as a normal seat, just with more legroom. It does make a fair bit of difference if you're tall, but not enough to make it that much easier to shuffle in and out of the row from a window seat - hopefully that's a good guide. Etihad...

Do you know if you purchased reward seats or used points plus pay? This will make a difference in terms of the rules that apply. If you don't know, we might be able to help you figure that out if you tell us where you are flying from and to, and how many points you spent per passenger.

Sounds like you got a below average agent unfortunately, so the best solution would've been to just hang up and call again. They do have internal policies and processes to open up award space (on VA operated flights) in the event of an involuntary cancellation; the alternate flights do not need...

We've been meaning to do an experiment on attaching lounge passes to Jetstar flights scheduled for after the expiry date of the pass to see if that works, so this would be perfect for that...

Can you potentially capitalise on this and move the final segment to a future date after you arrive in Melbourne? Even with a change fee it still makes for an almost no cost one way domestic J ticket!
