    Upgrade Dilemma

Or an Exit row (on QF or any airline, Ive done SYD-MNL on PR that way to also meet up with a nice ex MNL J itin) Day flights are much easier IMO.

What makes a good airport and what's your favourite?

i understand why we are talking about the BIG international airports, and there are a lot of great answers here as to what makes a good one. BUT...to answer the SECOND part of the question, my actual FAVOURITE airports are the small or smallish regionals... ;) Here and in North America...

Air New Zealand Sky Couch Discussion

Be nice, given the upcharge, if the Skycouch rows were directly behind PE, and got PE F & B! (Dream on)

Air New Zealand Sky Couch Discussion

Have flown it 3 or 4 times AKL-LAX or vv. I think its better than PE... simply due to being able to lie down, even if not stretched out (I AM only 5' 7" so that helps) I find that I can lie down quite comfortably, admittedly with legs bent... but given it is WIDER than the Biz class seat...

TRS leaving Sydney - receipt name differ from credit card name

From what I make of the TRS rules as long as the "invoice" is in HIS name it should be OK.....

    Little things I like

Sorry, yes. Its the smallest they make, the "Sportliner". Comes in various configurations, but I bought mine used so had no choice....still...the slim single bed at each end, with a central fridge/microwave/stove/sink arrangement suits me well enough.

    Koala Airlines Discussion

To be fair REX (and Hazelton and Kendall before it) operated for far longer than those others you mention. I'm not sure they belong in the same category TBH.

    Little things I like

Little things? ;) Decided I'm too old for tents, finally. So for my sporting travels I just bought a TINY caravan... 9 feet long, tare under 700kg, and no canvas! Weather did NOT cooperate for its first test use. No leaks though so a useful exercise perhaps?

Article: Should Airlines Keep Lounges Open for Delayed Flights?

It was a QF flight from HKG (IIRC) for me too. In fact several Flyertalkers/AFFers were on the same flight to SYD. The Lounge stayed open - and the barman - who was VERY good BTW - was completely unfazed it seems about the extension of his shift due to the delay.....I was very impressed... mind...

Airlines with easy Y extra seat purchase?

Well not really. If buying the Skycouch "for one" its THREE seats... and they have what is effectively a second seat "pan" hinged down at the front which converts the trio to a short, but reasonably wide bed....with special belts and a pretty nice bedding pack... Wouldn't recommend it for 2 Adults.

Planning trip to USA and/or Canada for WC 2026, any tips and advice?

How many side trips like that? Wouldn't the cost of those flights remove any savings?

Planning trip to USA and/or Canada for WC 2026, any tips and advice?

3 or 4 Skycouches on NZ? Just another thought. 4 would price slightly LESS than 5 x PE. Two littleist kids share one? Not sure how easy to GET 4 on one flight (and suspect you'd have to call if you wanted it all on one booking) Oz-AKL-LAX/SFO isn't a bad transit.

Why You Should NOT Book flights with Booking.com or GoToGate.com

You are no doubt correct. I don't know other folks situations, so I can't comment.. BUT by the time I actually BOOK the chances of any changes being required are extremely slim. Hence my relative confidence in booking through those channels.

    Strangest (weirdest) in-flight passenger antics?

We were all used to flying in and jumping from aircraft such as Cessna 172/182/206 or at best BN Islanders or Twin otters. In those smaller aircraft is was possible to affect the longditudinal trim by fairly minor movement... to the irritation of our long suffering pilots. We were simply doing...

    Strangest (weirdest) in-flight passenger antics?

I have to admit I was INVOLVED in the strangest onboard activity Ive seen. Many years ago (1989) a group of about 20 of us were on the same flight heading to Bali for a Skydiving Convention... super cheap package deal, Garuda both ways (but turned out to be an American chartered DC-10 operating...

What's behind your AFF user name?

I travel for target shooting competitions..one of which uses guns of the old west era (and costuming lol) and requires each shooter have an alias. I looked around for something Australian but still "period" and decided on "trooper". Inspired by Samuel Nelson, the NSW Colonial policeman who was...
