    Strategy to obtain US Amex

If you use QF points for payment you won't earn more QF points - however when you go to purchase, there's a slider to select to how many points to use, slide that to zero and max $ amount, and bingo.

Almost certainly yes. I was buying WISH cards when they were 4x points (on QF Marketplace) and they were coded as airfare on my Gold (3x MR), so I would expect the same from Aspire (7x HH).

Didn't expect this to be my breaking point, but it finally came!

It is, and that’s why it’s imposed on European carriers at all times and non European carriers departing the EU only - “you want to use our airports, you’ll follow our rules”. I’m not 100% sure why it doesn’t cover inbound, but I guess because the UK/EU have no jurisdiction over what goes on...

Not personally with Wise, in fact I've had some really difficulties with prepaid cards, but there's always a way. Can you add them to Apple Pay? I'd suggest trying to use them to top up Revolut then either Rev-US card or Rev-Wise-US card, if that works (no guarantees though, sadly).

I would imagine so, they'd just code as Qantas spend on any which award extra points for that too. But I've never purchased them via that route. I do usually buy 4% discounted gift cards through Woolies Insurance and through a work gift card portal, Aussie cards have always just counted them as...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

I wouldn't worry about it. After leaving the 10 days, you don't even need to change the address, just need to ask them for a new card to be sent to you overseas. I've been using Planet Express, not a single letter, card or anything has turned up, allegedly, even when tracked/signed for and with...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

I've got the Aspire too, it was my first US card! But the Surpass currently comes with 130k + 1x free night, also a free night on 15k spend (as opposed to 30k & 60k) on the Aspire - so any normal spending (3x HH points) on that one and multiplier spend (airfare/car rental 7x, Hilton 14x) on the...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

And the QF points post quickly too. Last day tomorrow (20/6) as a reminder for anyone interested. I've done about $1k total, a nice bonus for something I'll use fairly quickly. I don't really like holding big stacks of GCs, I've done $3k Apple cards before on the 20x offer, but that's about my...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

So randomly today it's allowed me to re-add the card to PayPal and the aforementioned bill payment was fine this time. Not sure if they'd just blocked it until the delivery date (it was due yesterday, as usual Planet Express has "not received it", although we'll see this time as the USPS...

Gold, but Green would yield the exact same result. Hilton Aspire would give 7x Hilton points. 1718369232 Close, Gold, but only because I have a SUB to hit ;). Green would of course yield the same result. I actually prefer the Green for my needs, Gold is great for restaurants and flights, but...

Airfare for the ED wish gift cards, so $100 is 400 QF + 198 MR at the current offer.

Didn't expect this to be my breaking point, but it finally came!

I agree with this entirely. I (and a lot of people) had a particular credit card company (UK based, I'll bitterly dispute issues all over the world) which closed my and a lot of other peoples' accounts (as they have every right to do, which I made clear I had no issue with), but then not only...

Fiji Airways becomes full oneworld member and adopts AAdvantage program

You'd be thinking of NF I think, with their one 737 and a few props for inter-island travel. That said, prior to collapse, they did use QFF.

Is Citi Plus still the best option for overseas cash?

I believe so, yes - I did occasionally have some HKD in there, because I didn't know better, but now I just fund it with AUD and crack on. Agree the exclusions are a bit strange, bit of an eclectic list, but nothing I couldn't live with.

Is Citi Plus still the best option for overseas cash?

Looks like the better option (unless you want to lock in the exchange rate) is to leave it all as AUD anyway. Current Premier AUD-HKD = 1:5.089 Googled AUD-HKD = 1:5.19 But that’s for swapping between currencies held in the account, not for visa transactions. 1718267201 Exactly right. From...

Is Citi Plus still the best option for overseas cash?

I don't believe so - https://www.hsbc.com.au/content/dam/hsbc/au/docs/ways-to-bank/personal-banking-booklet.pdf Part 21 of this book is I think what covers it.

Is Citi Plus still the best option for overseas cash?

The Global Everyday account generally doesn't, but if you're not holding enough of the currency you're using, it defaults to AUD, and converts what you spend to USD then AUD. Unlikely to be enough of a difference to care about unless you're spending thousands at once.

Is Citi Plus still the best option for overseas cash?

Good call, and there is a HSBC ATM in the arrival hall (after immigration/near customs, after all the baggage carousels), so make a bee line for that. I've used that with all sorts of cards and not been charged actually, it's about the only ATM I use in HK!

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

I'll give it a go, usually buy normal woolies cards at 4% off, so Wish at (essentially) the same (I'd value the points at a bit more is a win, doubly so if it codes as airline. Gold is coding as Travel - Airline (so 3x MR, and would be the same on green, 7x HH on Aspire), let's see.
