Credit Card Offers Amex Explorer Offers & Discussion

Not Explorer specific, but has anyone else had any issues with getting re-approved by Amex post Covid? Three friends, my OH & I have all been hit with declines at various points over the last couple of years. I finally got back on the Amex AU bandwagon a couple of weeks ago (QF Ultimate), but...

    Qantas Green frequent flyer tier

When the quiz first became a thing, I was able to re-do it in year two and got the 100 points (or however many) too. Last year and this year that category has rolled over (Reduce your impact), although I was able to do the Saveful thing when it came out last year and also get the points that...

    Strategy to obtain UK Amex

Fair. The UK BAPP Amex isn't worth it here, you need to have BAEC and Amex set to UK addresses for the points to tx, and there's the forex charge which wipes it out. Amex US from MR is probably the best way, there's yet another transfer bonus on as we speak (was 30% to BA/IB a few months back...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

Yeah 40k is the usual SUB, I jumped when they offered 60k, which is as high as I've seen it, but there could be better offers out there. I haven't seen 60k since though.

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

A PIN may or may not become available, it's for cash advances only and some Amex cards don't allow it. You'll never need to use it, which confuses a lot of retailers (it either authorises on tap only for any amount, or spits out a receipt to sign like it's 2005).

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

The address I explained I wasn't in the US enough days per year to make me a tax resident and the phone no. I said I retained it for when I was in the US and for receiving verification codes from online banking, something along those lines, although I can't find the completed version of the form...

I completed it and sent it back, also fine, never heard anything else.

    Strategy to obtain UK Amex

Amex or Commbank to QR. The latter is a horrible earn rate though. You can also purchase them during promos or take out an Avios subscription, either via BA, IB, AY or QR (technically also EI, doable but slightly more complicated).

Fiji Airways becomes full oneworld member and adopts AAdvantage program

Had a chat with the people at the Flounge in MEL, confirmed that QF, AA & BA elites can now access lounges based on status, as the original sponsor airlines (no mention of CX, may have been an oversight) in advance of FJ joining OW, so that confirms what others have said (DP was from last week)...

Wifi calling should work, otherwise you need to have $5 worth of credit in your account to enable international roaming (it doesn't take the credit, you just need to have it there for some reason).

HSBC Premier credit card - too good to be true?

Which countries other than Expat? I've got UK & US (as well as US), conversely, UK was easy in my case, as a dual citizen I have lived there and have a credit history there. I haven't bothered with Expat, since it's basically the same as the UK card, but without online application (temporarily...

HSBC Premier credit card - too good to be true?

Agree, I had a look through a few and they had a caveat of "have a good reason for needing the account", which could be anything. It's also somewhat variable in terms of credit cards, on the surface "get you set up with a credit card in your new country", yet you need to be a resident for a lot...

HSBC Premier credit card - too good to be true?

No worries - sorry to hear re MY, I was having a look through the options and it's very variable re requirements. I was looking at Bermuda (having recently been it renewed my thoughts about potential tax efficiencies long term), but it was a fleeting thought and too hard anyway. I think I was...

HSBC Premier credit card - too good to be true?

FWIW, I opened a HSBC HK Premier account, there was a lot of back and forth trying to verify why I needed it and proving my time in HK (I'd entered HK 11 times in 24 months, so that was easy enough to prove), they have since had no issues sending everything to Australia. I also have HSBC...

Do not disturb sign being ignored

This drives me absolutely INSANE! I'm naturally a late sleep/late riser, so often I'll be asleep at 10am/11am and get a knock on the door. Fiji are particularly bad for this, they tend to call the room too, just to really p155 me off (unplugging the phone worked). My most recent and somewhat...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

Ahh, I think as DJchuckes did, I've used the US App Store, which explains it - it's on my work phone, which I change the App Store login on to suit whatever I need, so that makes sense.

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

Seems a lot of effort - I bought the GC on the website, used the app from the Aussie App Store, added the GC to the app, credit reflected on the Gold a few days later. But the main thing is it worked! Another thing, Amex don't use address verification, so it doesn't matter what billing address...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

I had to do Notary Cam the first time I got a card sent to Australia, it was very straightforward. Haven't had to do it since. The most inconvenient part will be the call being aligned with US time zones, but that's not the end of the world.
