Priority check-in - massive value on international flights.
Priority boarding - very high value on narrow-body flights (locker space).
Priority baggage - no value.

Aaargh.
Exactly. Now we have the paper card plus another paper slip from the machines, for which we have to queue up, then then queue up again to get through the gate, then queue up again to get through customs.
I avoid like the plague any flight arriving at SYDi before 8:30am.
So predictable that the Qantas marketing dept would publicise this. Qantas is always holding out the promise of improvement (SYDi J lounge, AKL lounge, priority boarding etc etc etc) but fails to deliver. But it keeps the rusted-on customer rusted on.
OK thanks. Looks like I should keep my QR number in. Next question: what happens to my seat selection if I am downgraded from QR gold (free preferred seats) to silver (not free) in the period between when I book and seat select and when I fly?

What a miserable, entitled, whinging, mildly racist, intolerant bigot that writer is. But, to be fair, he is writing for the hard-Left Atlantic, so that goes with the territory.
Qantas doesn't care and won't care because pax still keep coming back to Qantas to spend their (or their employers') hard-earned. Even well-informed pax who have been subjected to multiple IRROPs stay loyal to Qantas.
