Virgin Australia "Last Flight Club" promo

This reminds me of the “Dusk to Dawn” trips to Melbourne when I was in year 11 and 12 in Bendigo, during a recreation/activities week Depart at 6pm arrive back at 6am. Great night. Some nights there were 5 buses of 16-17 yos. But now in my 50s not so much the target...

Jetstar Asia to shutdown on 31 July 2025

I’m not so sure about that comment in the Singapore market. The range, breadth and level of complexity of deals/points and other perks aimed at driving business in Singapore is breathtaking for the, IMHO, trivial benefits they offer. Yet they are plentiful. Spend $300 in a single day at my...

    Western Sydney Airport (WSI) Discussion

Really? I’m not sure I believe you about this. Surely the expansion of HBA wasn’t completed that quickly.;)

Dear Qantas: It’s Not Me, It’s You (A220s, Lounges, Curry, and Other Adventures)

I’m puzzled by the relevance of your comment here in relation to the original post. The comment was the crew were fantastic and the saving grace. Most of what OP mentioned was in the control of QF and not the crew or the subsidiary operating the aircraft.

Emirates to ban using power banks onboard from 1 October, 2025

As well as SQ/Scoot, I noticed yesterday that TG don't allow use of powerbanks on board. A rule which perhaps I broke without thinking about it, charging earbuds. The small cases you put you wireless pod/bud style headphones could technically be considered power banks.

    What cheeses me off

The other option is if available in your area to shop at Aldi (which still seems to have staffed checkouts even when they have self serve ones available) or IGA. Vote with your wallet.

    Western Sydney Airport (WSI) Discussion

Why is it that every few weeks this thread ends up re-litigating the same argument?

Jetstar Asia to shutdown on 31 July 2025

TR had an edge in the SG market as a subsidiary of SQ. But also they marketed heavily on 10kg of hand luggage. I would take TR over 3K for a weekend away because of this. Travelling with a laptop, easy to do with 10kg. With 7kg not worth the hassle especially if you don’t know whether or not...

Will Qantas points compensation increase by 20%

Yes, increasing by 20%, just like all the points you earn from flying, hotels, credit cards etc. 🤣 😛

Less of a problem ending up in WSI than in Sydney, NS. (YQY) 🤣

Jetstar Asia to shutdown on 31 July 2025

I didn't mention the 9 hour delay either last Thursday (which my partner's mother was on originally, but decided a redeye wasn't worth it and moved to the next day). It's very much rolling the dice with that service. Is OK if visiting friends and relatives, and you have access to personal...

Jetstar Asia to shutdown on 31 July 2025

A flow on effect of the shutdown of Jetstar Asia, I wonder how long now JQ7/8 (MEL-SIN services) will last? It often carried through traffic to the Jetstar Asia network, but that has now all evaporated. It was cancelled again today, and that makes 3 out of the last 8 scheduled services...

SQ ‘Flexi’ Business Class Fares – Not So Flexible!

The only thing I can think of the fare dropped after your initial purchase or a lower type of J fare was available. Fare class order on SQ in business class is Z C J U D. I can’t recall ever seeing U and D availability and not J or higher.

Overnight in BKK -- tips and advice?

I’ve got the NASA hotel booked this week. For all of $28. It’s connected by footbridge to the Ramkhamhaeng station on the airport line, 18 mins ride from the airport. I’ve mucked around properties in the proximity of the airport befor, which are close. but it sometimes it can be a wait for...

What (if anything) makes you loyal to an airline? In my case QF

Not loyal to any particular airline. Yes I do have a preference for certain carriers but certainly no loyalty to them. Big difference between preference and loyalty. The only brand - across any products or services - that I am genuinely loyal to is a certain brand of Shaving Gel that I have...

Qantas - Emirates Award flight Discussion

Yes tickets showing as confirmed on EK site, have ticket numbers in email (although can't find ticket numbers anywhere in MMB, I assume that's normal). Yes they will probably catch up I assume in the future. My ticket says 0 charges, my partners has the full amount, so at least once of us...

Worrying scenes from inside as Flight attendants try to evacuate plane

You are describing the European LCC approach and whilst they still do have overhead lockers, they charge handsomely for people to bring anything bigger than a smallish backpack on board. This helps with revenue obviously but also lends itself to people economising on luggage and/or checking...

Qantas - Emirates Award flight Discussion

Here’s a question … what to do about a ticketing error of sorts by QF. We have two tickets on the same PNR, points deducted, ticket issued with ticket numbers for both pax. When we booked the customer service agent took my debit card number for the surcharges and I immediately received an SMS...

    AFF Point Valuations

My take from all the comments, valuation is very personal. As well as “willingness to pay”, the other thing I account for is product substitution in valuations. More difficult for airlines perhaps than hotel programs but still a factor. For example if looking at Velocity and the flight...
