    Qantas introducing Travel Fund

Qantas has announced a Travel Fund for Business Reward accounts. Similar to VA's Travel Bank, seems you can cancel fares to the Travel Fund and then have flexibility to use those funds at a later time in a flexible manner, without the previous PNR re-book restrictions. It will be interesting...

A Boyhood Dream Fulfilled: Space-Geek Tour of the USA

Just take the reports along to the dinner and have the other members help you grade your students. I mean, what could possibly go wrong with that approach…? Great TR. you brought back memories of my trip to DC & NYC 10 years ago. (How time flies).

Flight Centre - need advice please

My wife’s uncle always gifts what he calls “Universal Gift Vouchers”… we commonly refer to it as “Cash”. 😂

Can you bring your own food into airport lounges?

I had the BNE VA Lounge entry staff tell me once that food from outside the lounge was not permitted, and I seem to recall this may have been during covid when the food offerings in the lounge were very slim. I can’t recall what my reaction was to them, but I’d never heard such a rule before and...

Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

I think what some people fail to appreciate is the potential “silent” 1000 are fed up with “woke vegan” everything… so if the question was “do you want to get rid of vegan chocolate”, of course the people who don’t feel they are allowed to loudly express their anti-woke opinions are going to...

Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

CNS-BNE on Saturday 21st. Chicken something. Tasted nice though the rice was a bit dry and wasn’t quite enough of the yoghurt to add to the moisture of the dish overall. But it was pleasant enough. Other option was veggie pasta something with optional chicken. The two ppl in 2A&C who ordered...

Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

I always choose 1A & 1C on the basis that I think, as two Platinums, there’s a higher chance we will be served first, and fairly sure it’s happened that way. Sometimes I’d prefer to choose row 2 so not to be at the bulkhead, but don’t want to risk the roulette of whether our status on fare...

Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

If it’s good for the customer experience, is it a bad thing? Some of the best companies in the world thrive on allowing individual employee innovation. I’ve heard that 3M historically allowed employees to work on projects to demonstrate new ideas/products. If the project is a success, the...

Qantas Business Class meals & menus

The trays on VA domestic business ended up developing a bit of a bubble/bulge, so the plates don’t sit flat on the tray. Ends up being a bit like playing that board game Trouble with “the pop-o-matic bubble” when you press the knife down to cut your food. I guess that was possibly from cheaper...

Major changes to Velocity Frequent Flyer announced 17/10/24

Yeah I take the changes to mean that you’ll be assessed on how many status credits you earned at your next review date, not necessarily how you earnt them (notwithstanding the new rule about how many you earnt individually), and that the number of sectors won’t be a factor considered at all.

VA and other seat maps not showing on ExpertFlyer

EK F & J working. SQ all classes working. (For some searches I have saved.)

VA and other seat maps not showing on ExpertFlyer

I feel naked not being able to look up seat maps for upcoming flights. It was the feature I used the most. When QF started not being available once check-in window opened, that was a real inconvenience. Not being able to see seat maps in advance at all is devastating 😭

Velocity introduces Forever Gold lifetime status tier

I logged into my Velocity account Tuesday night and submitted a query through the "Submit Feedback" option under Contact us and had a reply within 12 hours. (Not sure what all the shouting is about.) As per @Mattg, they told me the total points earned "for your flights with Virgin Australia"...

Velocity introduces Forever Gold lifetime status tier

Yeah, just found the T&C fine print on the updates page... it does exclude most of the items I had guessed about (flybuys, credit card bonuses etc.) but no mention of DSCs... I went back and did some more calcs removing more historical DSCs, and I might be closer to a bit under 12K than I was...

Major changes to Velocity Frequent Flyer announced 17/10/24

Overall, while it is always disappointing to have negative changes, I'm not too disappointed with these changes. I'm glad Eligible Sectors is no longer required. Lately, DSCs and Family pooling was easily getting my the SCs requal, but stretched to even get 8 flights annually lately, without a...

Velocity introduces Forever Gold lifetime status tier

I'm very hopeful to qualify for this... getting my spreadsheets out tonight, and doing some very conservative calculations, taking out Pooled SCs, Flybuys SCs, any Double/Triple SCs (just in case), other airline flights (only a couple on DL) and other bonuses, such as the Amex Velocity Platinum...

Crashing while Trying to book a Multi-City Business Class Classic Reward

I was recently trying the Multi-city tool, entering separate legs for CDG-DXB and DXB-BNE. Would show availability I wanted on each sector, and I could select each leg and it would price correctly as expected, but would bomb out (probably same numbers you're getting, but I can't remember). I...

    Which velocity card to get

Virgin Money VA Velocity High Flyer card is decent as a Visa. It's just gone up to $329 p.a. but you get a $129 credit to your Travel Bank each year. 1 pt per $ up to $8k per month, and they also just introduced bonus SCs on VA flights purchased on the card. Also get 2 pts/$ spent on VA. Only...
