FWIW, I recently requested and obtained two First class seats SYD-SIN return for Sept 25, but could not get any Y CR seats for connecting SYD-CBR flights. Plenty showing online. The agents couldn't understand it, ended up going with a separate CR booking and linking them.

Japanese, and other countries in Asia, tour companies traditionally have preferred overnight flights so the daylight hours on quite short stays are not used up travelling but touring. Not for me, but my holidays tend to be a bit longer.

I think WY is hosted by Sabre, if so will highly likely be a different PNR record locator than QF (Amadeus hosted).
