Experience with Australian border controls leaving the country

Wow! Surely by leaving the country you are not posing any risk to the Australian population. I would have thought managing / reducing the returning passengers should be their focus. Good luck.

Experience with Australian border controls leaving the country

I'd rather get the exemption before buying the ticket. I don't want more money wasted with airlines and hotels than I already have. My need isn't urgent but it is important. Good luck all.

Experience with Australian border controls leaving the country

Does anybody have experience as an Australian citizen requesting permission to leave the country under either of (but probably the latter): you are travelling on urgent and unavoidable personal business compassionate or humanitarian grounds Please share your experience. (Who could have...

Where would you be now ... ?

After our Business Class flight from Perth we were supposed now to be on our way to Cambodia where a resort with private pool awaited. Then to KL to visit friends then Singapore Airlines J to Stockholm before a carefully collected set of business class rewards flights to Tbilisi, Almaty, Yerevan...

Credit card positive balance due to refunds. What can I do?

I had the same situation with my fee free Bank West Mastercard. I transferred the excess funds to a savings account with another bank - no fees etc. Very simple and all online.

    Refund of Points and TravelBank

Unfortunately when I click on cancel (or change) on my reward booking it says I must contact the call centre.

Singapore Airlines - are they hiding cancellation information?

Yes - this happened to me and yes I'd recommend calling them. They are busy with Covid-19 etc and it took me an hour to get through but it was all sorted quickly once I got through. Before ringing manage my booking looked absolutely normal.

A chance to reminisce - who remembers the "old days" of Travel?

I flew Compass a few times SYD-BNE. In the Army we flew Richmond NSW to Laverton in a Caribou. It was during the air traffic controllers strike (in 1981?) so we were permitted to take off provided we flew under a given height. I can't remember what that height was but I can assure it was low...

A chance to reminisce - who remembers the "old days" of Travel?

I remember the red carbon paper on the tickets very well, and having to ring a few days before to confirm your reservation. When I first started work business travel was a rare thing usually reserved for senior executives but my IT skills allowed me to score the occasional trip.A major bank’s...

Is it worth joining a hotel loyalty program if not corporate funded?

Self funded? Do what I do. I travel about 6 months of the year and choose hotels.com For each 10 nights you get a free night so that’s about a 10% discount and stay anywhere you like. it’s the ultimate in flexibility.

    Book the Cook

I fly SQ J several times a year long-haul and I've always been satisfied. I try to sit in the front cabin and I've never missed out on my first choice. I've used BTC a few times - the Beef Randang was great, the lobster dish not so great. The wine list is really quite adequate, you're not going...

    Massive dissapointment

I'm 192cms tall (6'4"), Size 15 feet and have no problem in any of the SQ J seats including the A350. I also enjoy the food, reasonable wine selection, great IFE, good on-time record, great choice of flights to most ports, civilised transit in Singapore, fabulous FAs etc. I do feel for the OP...

New Ultimate Awards card (uncapped till May 2020)

I just did the switch. Despite what my personal banker told me, the switch website says that the monthly fee will start after your current annual fee period has passed.

New Ultimate Awards card (uncapped till May 2020)

I have CBA Diamond, BankWest and Macquarie. I use the latter two when overseas or making overseas transactions. I spend quite a bit on overseas airfares and I live overseas for six months of the year. (Actually less than six months if anyone from the ATO is here.) My free and fee free BankWest...

New Ultimate Awards card (uncapped till May 2020)

I emailed my CBA personal banker and he confirmed that if you are an existing Diamond Awards card holder and you convert to Ultimate then your Diamond annual fee will be refunded pro-rata. So I'm making the switch now. It may not attract too many new card holders but I was seriously considering...

New Ultimate Awards card (uncapped till May 2020)

This could be good for me. I currently have a platinum card with $359 p.a. fee (with additional card). I don't use it for international purchases but I figure $359 for 12 months unlimited travel insurance is pretty good. (I spend about 6 months of the year overseas.) I use one of the fee free...

Don't have One Too Many or Admit being Drunk...

Once I was flying QATAR from ARN-DOH in business class and two blokes on the other side of the cabin got into a punch up as we were taxiing for take off. They were strangers to each other and one was obviously drunk. The cabin crew quickly settled them down and moved the less drunk one to a...

Best option for earning status in Star Alliance?

I guess it depends what you want to achieve. A good basis for *A Gold or to accumulate miles for a future redemption. Turkish and Asiana have low barriers to Gold without the need to use their metal. TK at least isn't good with your LH P flight but does do well on your UA P flight...

Don't have One Too Many or Admit being Drunk...

The abuse of alcohol is neither clever nor funny. Having said that … many years ago, I believe during the air traffic controller or pilot strikes, I was in the Adelaide ANSETT lounge with my boss watching the cricket from early afternoon. Delays were progressively announced hour by hour until...
