1000/5000 point referral for new Velocity accounts

I partook in the Velocity membership drive promotion, with the offer of 5000 points per sign up. I had 10 sign ups and accrual of points on each new account as per the T&Cs but only ever received one lot of 5000 points. I contacted Velocity through the missing points form, and later received the...

So... what car do you guys drive when not flying?

I was looking at the 4 GranCoupe but couldn't resolve the rear 3/4 styling in my mind so stuck with the sedan. I think it'll be good to change it up and get something different. The Merc C Class coupe certainly looks good! Not that my opinion matters at all but I would also go the C over the TTS.

So... what car do you guys drive when not flying?

I purchased my 328i in 2012 and just changed over to the 330i last month. I looked around at different makes/models but kept coming back to the 3 series. Very happy with it, noticeable improvements in driving and some interior bits and pieces. Just wish they had permanently fixed the hideous...

    Parking Scam at MEL

I always photograph my odometer when I drop my car off at any valet station. Just a little extra insurance, and at least some form of proof should something be amiss at pickup time.

    Uber let-downs

I should most definitely have pursued a refund and did intend to, however the task kept falling by the wayside as I enjoyed my travels. Quite a minor expense in the scheme of things but nonetheless irritating to have paid good money for absolutely zero result from my end. Oh well. Live and learn.

    Laptop or Tablet

I love a gadget, and own an iPad, iPhone and MacBook Air. My MacBook Air is what I choose to travel with (iPhone is attached to my person and goes wherever I go anyway). I find the MacBook Air performs brilliantly, especially for Internet browsing, word/spreadsheet processing, and some...

Proposed new ANZ Adventures credit cards

I've been searching for a card to replace my Virgin Money High Flyer (after the latest round of enhancements). Will be receiving the new cards in a few days time. The earn rate seems decent enough, although it would be nice if the Visa rate was a tad higher.

    Uber let-downs

In NYC last year I had a poor experience. I had booked a car that was only 2 minutes away after finishing up at dinner. Walked outside on to the street and couldn't locate the car. Waited, walked to the other side of the street and up and down. Stupidly, allowed ten minutes to pass so that when...

Roomba, Dysons, Thermomix and other household appliances

Slice up your potatos, give them a rinse to remove excess starch, then dry them with some paper towel. Toss them with no more than a tablespoon of olive oil in a bowl and season them slightly with salt (you can also add after they're cooked). Throw them in the Airfryer - I do everything on max...

Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

VA517 SYD to OOL on 19/5. Options were zucchini and bacon quiche which my partner chose. I opted for the smoked salmon and egg salad. Was tasty, I enjoyed it. VA524 OOL to SYD on 24/5. The options were tomato soup with or without chicken, or lamb shank with gnocchi which is what both my...

Who on AFF are the cruise gurus and what are your preferred cruise lines and ships?

Re: Who on AFF are the cruise gurus and what are your preferred cruise lines and ship I've completed 14 cruises, with another 4 booked within the next two years. I've cruised most extensively with Princess and Royal Caribbean, and have also completed a few cruises on P&O Australia. It...

1000/5000 point referral for new Velocity accounts

I just got this too. Except it's 5000 points per sign up, maybe because I'm gold? Now to think of people that I know that aren't already members...

Roomba, Dysons, Thermomix and other household appliances

You'll find the XL air fryer (the larger one) produces quite a bit of smoke if you're cooking something fatty. The smaller air fryer, the Viva, doesn't smoke anywhere near as much. Own both, and the smaller unit is also constructed much more sturdily. Both great machines but the XL...

Roomba, Dysons, Thermomix and other household appliances

It's a fantastic machine. Have had it for 8 months now and it's used multiple times per week. Once you switch to fresh pasta, there's no going back to the dried stuff. Also, if it hasn't been mentioned in this thread yet, the Philips Air Fryer is equally brilliant. Roast whole chicken in...

Famous people seen (or even met) whilst flying or lounging

The deputy mayor of Sydney's Auburn, and handbag, I mean wife - I don't even want to repeat the name lest my head roll off my shoulders. QF422 Melbourne to Sydney on 30 October. I had pre selected the two centre suites in Row 6, then moved my partner and I to Row 4 as they had opened up. The...

    Ovation of the Seas

I have Ovation booked for January 2017 Sydney to NZ. Can't wait! Managed to snag a Sky Loft at a decent rate as a result of booking it almost as soon as it went live in the system. Only downside is a very long countdown.

A ?new way to slow things down going through security

Just reading this makes me anxious and annoyed. Do these people never travel themselves? Have they never stood in a security line and thought to themselves, "gee, this could probably be more efficient if...[insert efficiency measure]? WHAT is going on? I know this is also my little rant, but...
