    SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

It's refreshment and then a full-on lunch later in the flight, including the famous satay (in J). That would be my preference (instead of breakfast and a later refreshment) - I can have breakfast in the hotel or lounge.

    Superannuation Discussion + market volatility

I think a common strategy where you have an existing pension a/c is: (1) keep open a small amount in your accum a/c, (2) contribute funds to that accum a/c, (3) rollover the pension a/c balance into the accum a/c and close the pension a/c, (4) open a new pension a/c (with the entire balance if...

    Changi Overnight strategy

What everyone else said about SG immigration speed and ease. I would recommend Village Hotel Changi Village, particularly with children, two pools and there is a lot of parkland, playgrounds and seaside at Changi Beach, can stretch the legs in the morning. As well as a great hawker centre. And a...

Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

To be fair, if I'd received such a small number of beans, I'd count them too.

Article: Toastie Wars: Qantas Club vs Virgin Lounge

Yes, VA did have toasties before QF, but VA's "enhancement" of deleting the ham is just one more nail in the coffin for me of continuing loyalty to VA. It will be a dark day some time in the future if I finally have to admit that QF is the better option, after all my decades of bagging them.

Mm, maybe there was an equipment change also, in your case.

Qantas International Catering Singapore To Brisbane

Yep, SQ is vastly better in economy and you have plenty of SQ flights SIN-BNE-SIN to choose from. Much better food, comfortable seats, great service, more reliable, fewer delays.

Article: The Pros & Cons of Different Aircraft Types

Short answer: it depends. Eg, SQ 777 in economy is really good at 3-3-3 (one of the best Y experiences going around), but QR really bad at 3-4-3 and very thin seats. JL 787 econ great (the best Y?), all other 787s not so good. A330s great in econ (particularly if a couple) except for LCCs like...

Velocity introduces Forever Gold lifetime status tier

Just checked and, yes, same for me. I suppose this fixes the slightly confusing way they previously stated it in the situation where someone has plenty of non VA credits but not many VA credits, which was "you have 11,500 credits, so you only need 500 more of which at least 4000 more need to be...

    SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Over on the Qantas pages, there is thread after thread of 24/36/48 hour delays and arguments over compensation, hours wasted calling agents, etc. Meanwhile, here at SQ, I receive the following email:

    Elevating a Singapore layover

Never knew this existed, thanks for posting this, might try it in the future with a long layover, easily do-able for a five hour layover. According to google maps, there is a zi char next door, so a few drinks at the seaside lounge, a swim, then a local meal at the zi char would be wonderful...

    Normandy and Brittany

In northern Brittany, Dinan of course, but also Cancale for oysters on the waterfront is great, and St Malo. In the south, Rochefort en Terre and Josselin are both amazing. And we really liked Vannes. In this area, we can highly recommend Chateau de Craon for a couple of nights. And of...

    SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Beef tenderloin (eye fillet) as airline food is always hit and miss I think. It is very lean so can be very dry and lacking in flavour, and easy to overcook, as re-heated plane food. Avoid.
