    Qantas Delays/Cancellations

On Tuesday 2 September, QF295, the wet-leased A333 OH-LTS took off at 1122 from SYD so BKK gate arrival should be 1749 hours, 69 late. QF127, the 1020 hours SYD-HKG (A333 VH_QPF) was airborne at 1145 hours with a 45 minute late arrival at 1845 hours likely.

    Qantas Delays/Cancellations

Although QF6 from Rome's FCO arrived in PER on 1 September at 0842 hours, three minutes early, the second leg to SYD has run badly late, arriving at 1748, 83 minutes behind schedule. Next up for B789 VH-ZNJ is QF75, the mid evening 2030 hours to Canada's YVR.

    Philippine Airlines Delays/Cancellations

I can't be definitive that the cancelled flight would have been loss-making, but if so, the airline would be saving a substantial amount of money. In my experience most legacy airlines will pay for passengers' additional expenses due to airline IRROPS.

    Qantas Delays/Cancellations

In more on Monday 1 September, QF64 (A388 VH-OQL) arrived SYD (ex JNB) at 1643 hours, 118 minutes late. It is next off to LAX as QF11, the 1745 hours altered to depart at 1900 hours. UPDATE: Forecast departure has become 1930.

    Qantas Delays/Cancellations

A332 VH-EBL arrived PER on Monday 1 September at 0020 hours, 20 minutes early as QF72 from Lion City SIN, but then the rot set in. QF770, the 0620 hours PER to MEL was not airborne until 1110 hours so gate arrival becomes 1616 hours, 266 minutes late. I've not looked them up but this badly...

Qantas boosts international capacity, wet lease Finnair aircraft

The Filipino economy has been doing very well per annum for a few years, and there's growing interest from Australians in visiting its islands along with a significant and increasing diaspora. It's not surprising that QFi seeks to capitalise on plenty of business links (call centres - perhaps...

Qantas boosts international capacity, wet lease Finnair aircraft

I haven't read every page of this thread so apologies if this has already been covered. I notice QF291 and its return SYD-SIN-SYD is back operating with AY aircraft. QF2985 and its return continue to operate SYD-BKK-SYD. IIRC, eventually these become 'dry lease' rather t65han 'wet lease', but...

    Qantas Delays/Cancellations

Continuing with Sunday 31 August 2025, QF63 took off at 1250 hours from SYD with arrival in JNB for A388 VH-OQL forecast for 1845 hours, 150 minutes late and as luck would have it, exactly the scheduled departure time for the returning QF64. A333 VH-QPA is operating QF127, the 1020 hours SYD up...

    Philippine Airlines Delays/Cancellations

In a few weeks' time, a friend is travelling MNL to MEL on PR209. The airline cancelled that flight and has moved her to the next night's flight i.e. a delay of 24 hours. It has refused to pay for (or arrange) accommodation in MNL and says it won't rebook her on other carriers "because it has...

On Sunday 31 August, B788 VH-VKK is on JQ47, the scheduled `045 hours SYD up to ICN airborne at 1147 with gate arrival tonight likely at about 2049 hours, 34 minutes late.

    Jetstar Delays/Cancellations

On Sunday 31 August 2025, JQ7, the 1205 hours lunchtime MEL-SIN is expected to push back at 1705 hours in the late afternoon. Booking to travel on this flight (and the return JQ8) seems unwise as they are frequently cancelled, or run badly late.

On Sunday 31 August 2025, QF63, the 0930 hours SYD across to JNB with A388 VH-OQL is delayed in departure to a forecast 1130 hours. UPDATE: It's further delayed to a predicted 1225 hours. If tomorrow it's forming QF11, the latter may be tardy.

    Qantas Delays/Cancellations

One I missed earlier on Saturday 30 August was QF81, the scheduled 1020 hours SYD-SIN with A332 VH-EBl. This took off at 1224 hours, arriving in Lion City at 1838 hours, 108 minutes late. EBL is next to operate QF72, the 1935 hours SIN-PER estimated to push back optimistically at 2000 hours...

Strategies for cheap business/premium flights to North America

For travel in March 2026 to JFK (ex MEL) and then open jaw (surface) to LAX, and air LAX to MEL in April 2026 I found a Philippine Airlines return fare in J for c.A$5200. This had 10-11 hours daytime layovers in MNL, time for sightseeing (or alternatively staying in the J lounge).

    VA50: all toilets inoperable

Especially difficult for the elderly and even worse for children. Apparently urine escaped from at least one toilet, while one elderly lady wet herself. The third toilet was said to have failed 'midway' through the flight. The flight path was close to Broome and then Alice Springs, so I'm...

    VA50: all toilets inoperable

'The Australian' online has a lengthy report about how on Thursday 28 August 2025, VA50, the 1515 hours DPS-BNE airborne at 1606 hours had one of the three toilers inoperable. Later, the other two also did not work, forcing passengers to use a sink, bottle or 'on top of' whatever was already in...

    Qantas FY25 results

In FY 25, there was 10 per cent growth in points earned but only eight per cent growth in points redeemed. This is an example as to why it's harder and harder to find redemptions in some FF schemes.
