Slow posting of Status Credits from Partners

I flew Iberia about 3 weeks ago and still have not received the points and status credits for the flight. Had my QFF in the booking and the flight even showed up on the Qantas app, so they had very successfully linked it to my account before I flew, then somehow forgot about it afterwards. I'm...

Adding middle name to QF FF profile

I have never had an issue with not including middle name. In Japan I once had a JAL check-in agent add my middle name to the boarding pass, by writing it on with a pen.

Qantas seems to breed poor publicity: SCMP Opinion Piece

The Australian media and politicians also scrutinise Qantas very closely and make it headline front-page news. British Airways suffered the same collapse in service, after similarly firing most of their workforce and outsourcing or hiring them back on lower wages. Sadly the British just accept...

    Avoid PayID payment to Qantas

I use a credit card in the UK where card surcharges are illegal, but in Australia it costs extra to use a credit/debit card, so I avoid it if possible.

    Westpac Denied

I had requests from a few banks recently for more details, when I questioned it with one they said it was new government legislation requiring them to collect the information and pass it on to the ATO.

Article: Qantas Considers Bringing Call Centres Back to Australia

I had an interesting experience in Heathrow after a BA cancellation. No ticketing staff at the airport, you need to ring the call centre. I got through to someone who rebooked me onto a flight an hour later. Great service I thought, until I heard him say "from Gatwick". After a bit more...

    Qantas Systematic Cancellation of Flights

Try telling BA that. They put WEAN as the reason code and deny the claim. Basically any slot reduction or flow rate management due to rain, winds or visibility at an overcapacity airport means they can cancel flights without compensation, but duty of care still applies.

Cash or Card? Countries where you still need cash.

The UK had a bit of a transformation with covid, many places became card only and have remained that way since. The country I now avoid spending on card is when I'm back in Australia, they always want to add a surcharge.

We'd like your feedback on Australian aviation policy

Absolutely - especially the duty of care sections (must provide meals, accommodation and transport) and the right to choose a refund or rebooking (customer's choice to be fully refunded within 7 days OR to be rebooked/rerouted to their destination or back to departure point - again at customer's...

    Qantas Systematic Cancellation of Flights

It makes sense and the same thing happens at LHR with BA. Most EU261 claims are rejected because BA point to weather/ATC

New Qantas route - Perth to Paris from July 2024

This is my strategy for Europe-Aus, I absolutely hate the 5am/6am arrivals, which is why I've avoided QF flights on most trips. The exception has been QF10 LHR-PER-MEL which worked well for me, but if they change the PER-MEL to a 737, I'm going EK both ways, or looking at non-QF code options.

New Qantas route - Perth to Paris from July 2024

Why not EK on QF codes? This is what I do now QR earns half the status credits. (Yes I should have switched to BAEC) I have heard from friends though that they found the PER-LHR better for jetlag, but personally I didn't find it much different to going via SIN or HKG. Going via DOH/DXB I tend...

    Apple Airtags

I had a similar experience with British Airways, they were not interested in using the Airtag location to help them find my bag, I just had to wait for staff to eventually locate it and send it on its way. Once you've filed a report with the airline you should be able to check any updates on...

New Qantas route - Perth to Paris from July 2024

They've been talking about direct flights to Paris since at least 2017, is it officially going ahead now? Alan Joyce previously blamed Perth airport and the French government for stifling his Paris plans.

Why You Should NOT Book flights with Booking.com or GoToGate.com

Also a reason not to use Malaysia airlines if that's how much they charge for 2x <20kg suitcases!

Cash or Card? Countries where you still need cash.

Had the same issue in Milan travelling with some Aussie friends, their Australian cards were declined but my UK-issued card was accepted. I ended up buying the tickets for our entire group...

Electronic authorisation required for EU travel from 2025

Not necessarily, as it could speed up processing at the EU border and allow use of the e-Gates. Currently non-EU passport holders need to queue to get a stamp. That's correct. Australia charges $20 AUD

Qantas, Virgin, Qatar called to assist with Israel repatriation flights

Possibly crew related because for QF1/QF2 A380 the crew that work the LHR-SIN sectors are UK-based (and paid less than the Australian-based crew who operate SIN-SYD).

Qantas, Virgin, Qatar called to assist with Israel repatriation flights

Can see ASY1168 has just left TLV heading back to LHR. Interestingly has been a few repatriation flights today. Canada and France are both flying their citizens to Athens. Switzerland and Brazil are taking theirs home - to Zurich and Rio De Janeiro.

    New controversial work travel policy

Moving from Australia to the UK some years ago, I found it quite unusual that sharing rooms on corporate travel to conferences has been the norm in most of the companies I've worked for here. What's surprised me more is that most people seem OK with it - they see it as allowing more people to...
