Latitude 28 Degrees $8 per month starting September 2024

It may have been strategic - they get rid of all the people who don't make them much money, maybe even lose money on. People who only use it as their backup travel card and cancel ASAP to avoid any fees. Or perhaps the exodus was far greater and quicker than they predicted so they had to stop...

Interline luggage on separate bookings QF>IB, BA>QF

Agree I wouldn't really bother if transiting the US or Australia - both countries require transit passengers to collect their bags and go through immigration and security. It's beneficial in other countries where it can allow you to completely bypass passport control and security, and just walk...

    Westpac Denied

I believe it's to catch people who don't declare all their income to the ATO, the banks are being asked to dob them in to the government.

Interline luggage on separate bookings QF>IB, BA>QF

I've been lucky on many occasions with QF, QR, CX, AY and AA agents. BA has always refused.

    Westpac Denied

I got pinged with something like this from CBA and when I questioned it they said it was new Australian government legislation requiring them to collect the information and pass to the ATO

Qantas A380 reliability issues creeping up again?

That's just Heathrow baggage handling, happens with all airlines there.

Qantas A380 reliability issues creeping up again?

Yeah but have a look at BA, they've cancelled hundreds of flights this month for operational reasons, so I don't think this is something unique to QF.

You won't want to hear that a 10-year UK Driving Licence renewal costs £14, or free if you're over 70.

New aviation industry ombudsman & customer rights charter in Australia

A lot of the reporting is focusing on quick refunds. Often that's not in the customer's interest - you get your money back, but then may have to buy a more expensive same-day fare on another airline. One of the best things about the EU legislation is requiring the airline to cover all...

    Europe internal J pricing

Don't want to take this too far off topic (since it's about flying Europe's shorthaul "Business" class) but certainly agree it's worth comparing Ryanair and easyJet, especially if you're based in London and going for a weekend trip in Europe with an underseat bag only. Their timing also often...

    Qantas Delays/Cancellations

QF9 PER-LHR cancelled for a few days, replaced with QF209 PER-SIN-LHR Leaves PER over 4 hours earlier, to arrive London at the scheduled 5am.

Thanks for this, similar story for me - was dreading having to call during AEST 9-5 from the UK. Though I've just tried to use this and cannot login due to "system issues" ... too many people cancelling perhaps?

Qantas to introduce hot meals and hot snacks on most domestic flights, extends tea and coffee service

Title should be "reintroduce", not pretending it's a brand new thing that's never been done before! Still better than anything in Europe. Fly BA from London to Athens, 4 hour flight, all you'll get is a cup of water and a tiny packet of pretzels.

New Qantas route - Perth to Paris from July 2024

Are the crew for the Paris & Rome flights based in Australia or the UK/Europe? I recall the Perth-London & Singapore-London QF sectors are usually a UK-based crew who are paid less than their Aussie counterparts.

New amaysim roaming plans April 2023

I've had that delayed text message issue before on Optus roaming in the UK, and exactly the same issue with needing a SMS code that often expires within a few minutes. Sometimes making a phone call will trigger them to come through, or try switching networks to manually connect to another local...

New Qantas route - Perth to Paris from July 2024

I did the LHR-PER-MEL flight a few years ago (when it was still the 787 PER-MEL) and found it tedious having to collect and re-check bags in PER. In the other direction I found the pre 5am landing into LHR to be tedious. At least the CDG flights seem slightly better timed for a 7am local...

    Qantas Delays/Cancellations

Interesting. Does it then wait in Fiji for weather in AKL to improve and then continue to AKL? Or will they refuel in NAN and then go straight onto Sydney instead? Looks like Hawaii would have been closer for them if it was an emergency.

What am I missing here - Qantas has been flying to Rome since 2022?

    Qantas Delays/Cancellations

Yesterday's QF1 returned to Singapore shortly after takeoff and cancelled. The return QF2 from LHR is therefore also cancelled today as the aircraft is assumedly still in Singapore.
