    QANTAS Cyber Incident

I haven’t received an email from them yet either, not that it will tell me anything more than is in ABC news or elsewhere. I’m hopeful I’ve got no email from them because my data wasn’t impacted by this. But it could also mean I’m in a different ‘impacted customer’ batch which will be sent a...

    Qantas Delays/Cancellations

QF10 just goes to Perth though, not Sydney?

    Middle East Airspace Diversions/Cancellations

2 BA flights from London to Dubai were diverted due to the events in the region. BA105 returned to LHR. BA109 went to ZRH, assuming didn’t have enough fuel to get back to LHR.

Double points on round-trip Qantas bookings from UK to Australia

I got the email for this from Qantas last week and it had a link you had to click to register before booking, but then the T&Cs don’t mention having to register. T&C’s from the email

Preferred seating charge for second passenger on same ticket?

How amusing they go from "we can't comment on any previous bookings" to insisting that your previous bookings were always like this and nothing has changed!

    Airfares to US to drop?

Americans? Also Australians love to put suburb names in addresses. Whenever I get a parcel from Australia I'm amused that they always include the name of my local area, sometimes also the borough/council name, and also London on the address. In the UK most would just put "London" and the...

Qantas Changes Acknowledgement of Country arrival Announcement

As someone who visits Australia once or twice a year, the acknowledgment of country often catches me by surprise, but I find it interesting, educational and respectful. I'm more surprised by the reaction from the local Aussie residents I travel with, they roll their eyes at it and apologise to...

Classic Rewards available only when not logged into QFF account?

I'm not sure if this is related but the Rewards booking site just isn't working for me at all today. When I try to select any Classic Reward flight I get this generic error message and can't continue

    QF2 diversion to Baku

The ABC news story quotes a passenger now in Baku saying that Qantas are flying in a new plane from London to pick them up... how does that work, they don't exactly have spare planes in London do they? I assume they meant to say a new crew are flying in from London?

    QF2 diversion to Baku

My first thought as well, Dubai or Doha would have been better choices. I can only guess they preferred to avoid any unusual diversions into Iran and Afghanistan airspace?

Qantas Changes Acknowledgement of Country arrival Announcement

I think it's the opposite actually. As an Australian who's been living overseas for 10 years, I find the local outrage at it more confusing. It seems to be incited by local politics and media that's not really viewed much outside Australia. edit: I do agree that the Kiwis have done a much...

Qantas forcing everyone to use self-service check-in kiosks in AKL

Story is also a bit confusing... pinned down by three police officers and taken away in handcuffs for "using abusive language". Has to be more to the story surely?

Changes to Westpac credit card point earn rates from 1/8/25

You know it's particularly bad when they don't show the old rate next to the new one for easy comparison.

    Apple Airtags

$5 for a 4 pack at Kmart & Target, but that's their own brand version rather than a big name.

    Apple Airtags

But oddly expensive in the UK/Europe. Here in London a pack of 4 sells for about £8 or $16 AUD. Last time I was in Australia I paid $5.

Changes to Westpac credit card point earn rates from 1/8/25

Oh wow is that still a thing in Australia? In the UK the banks have access to this information via credit reference agencies data, so it's very rare to be asked to send anything in as part of an application. On the flipside it's an automated decision that's hard to contest if they get it wrong...

Article: Why is Dynamic Currency Conversion Even Legal?

It's really well known in Europe as a bank scam too. In almost all places I've been recently I've noticed the staff automatically selecting EUR on their POS terminal when setting up the payment, without asking.

Transit through US a good idea or not?

I've had British & European friends visit Australia who all said the interrogation and searches they received entering Australia was far worse than any questions they got at the US border. Though turns out they were referring to our very thorough customs checks, not the passports/immigration part.

TATL in whY- BA vs AA as QF Plat?

My recent upgrades to Club Europe have still received the SCs as expected. It's the main reason I take the upgrade offers so I hope it isn't being wound back!
