Slightly off topic, but I cannot understand why you have to get a ticket from a kiosk before u go through the E gates to exit the international terminal. As you leave Australia, you only have to scan your passport to get through the Egate, so why can't the same system work on entry?

Flew from MEL international recently and used my old Express Pass cards to enter the marked path. However get to Passport Control and have to line up with everyone else, including pilots and cabin crew, who also get no priority, bit of a joke!

Tend to agree. I often compare Qantas with Jetstar on flights, and often find that a Qantas booked flight for Jetstar is cheaper when you have to add on luggage costs with Jetstar.

All good unless your flight is less than 3 1/2 hours and outside meal hours, and of course no delays! Otherwise you just get the chocolate brownie!

I'm of the view that in Australia you almost need to travel to your point of international port of departure a day earlier to ensure you can be there for the overseas leg of your trip, domestic connections are often unreliable in the current covid environment.

Jetstar is now the full service airline, Qantas the very budget airline, at least you can get food and drink on Jetstar, even if you have to pay for it.
