P1 is the only tier that can have a manual request via the route controller if the computer says no. Can request if D class available, Platinum can only do so if I class. Also agree with @Andy72 with points upgrades. Top of the pile for that.

After hours you get routed as a P1 to one of the OS call centres. Usually NZ or SA. In fact when it’s busy during office hours you might get routed to one of those IME. So if pushing to get to P1 for the call centre then I wouldn’t bother. For me the biggest benefit of P1 is access to award...

QR are still giving out the F1 PJs or at least they were on my lasts two lots of sectors with them (late June most recently). The Ferrari red decal on the top and pants peels off after the first wash. Flying them again next month and hope it’s back to the usual ones.

I just submitted an upgrade request for QF2 in a couple of months. Am I right in assuming that if successful it will be at the current lower points cost and not the more expensive one that comes in tomorrow?

The QR lounge is lovely. Typical of their outstation premium lounges. Others you may have access to depending on the whim of AOT are CX, JL and WY. Don’t bother with the JL lounge it’s very ordinary.

Won’t be purchasing. Already have two heavy carry ons Rimowa Original Cabin 4.3kg LV Horizon 3.2kg Will likely use my new blue tag on the Rimowa as that gets the most use and abuse and premium cabin checking on QFLink.

Many of us have complained for years that P1 in the online BP and to a lesser extent the tags is way too similar to silver. It’s getting a rebrand to Navy Blue

IME I would say likely not. That’s the busiest time for the lounges and there can be quite a wait for a shower. Would depend on everything aligning. No bus gate, preferably no transit security (straight into the terminal on arrival), no massive hike to the gate for the JFK flight.
