Qatar Airways to acquire 25% of Virgin Australia

Yes the 13th. I'm actually reading the submission on the 13th and I think they are then stating they want the exclusive partnership on the application. Though were specific they were keeping the existing relationships ex Etihad (page 4). (Already posted the table of "changes") 14th ACCC...

Qatar Airways to acquire 25% of Virgin Australia

First confirmation was : Etihad gone SAA and VS staying as is SIA no codeshare to EMEA but can redeem Velocity points to EMA. Second confirmation was : No head-quartered exclusivity.

Qatar Airways to acquire 25% of Virgin Australia

The request for exclusive partnership's with another airline headquartered in Europe or Africa wasn't actually requested (as not in the proposed conduct). Again read the ACCC's question, what I highlighted. The ACCC are saying you've stated all this but haven't asked for it, do you want it...

Qatar Airways to acquire 25% of Virgin Australia

Correct. (As I also mentioned previously.)
  5. B

Qatar Airways to acquire 25% of Virgin Australia

Need to read the question from the ACCC multiple times. The initial application actual never had the exclusive arrangements within the proposed conduct anyway. Think they over-shared in the application. (The exclusive arrangements are more a hand-shake deal between Qatar and Virgin.) Answer:

Qatar Airways to acquire 25% of Virgin Australia

Why would they need to resubmit? ACCC would approve and put in place the condition's anyway. Sometimes airlines ask for 10 year authorizations and the ACCC approve for 5. Being able to respond to submissions is part of the process and also allows for changes.

Etihad & Virgin Partnership to Finish on 1 June 2025

SIA I understand in part as Singapore isn't Middle East and a confusing relationship. VA and SAA, yup that was 100% a mistake IMHO.

Qatar Airways to acquire 25% of Virgin Australia

If they were dumped or worked out they don't need them it doesn't really matter. They've highlighted the actual changes and that's all that matters. I suspect the exclusive clauses were dumped. If Qatar owns 25% they would veto any new partnerships anyway. Dumping VS and SA wouldn't make any...

Qatar Airways to acquire 25% of Virgin Australia

Yes it's clear as mud as they are responding / clarifying to the ACCC based on the submissions and the ACCC's initial review prior to making a decision. For the email a penny dropped that they don't need ACCC approval for some of the arrangements. (I had to re-read that email multiple times.)...

Qatar Airways to acquire 25% of Virgin Australia

Both are unaffected which have been confirmed. I'm sure they regret the wording used in orginal application. "There are no changes to arrangements with Virgin Atlantic (VS) or South African Airways (SA)". End of page 5 and page 6. A question mark has now been thrown over Air Canada though...

Qatar Airways to acquire 25% of Virgin Australia

I think this confusion comes down to two different relationships. Also, with Singapore Airlines it's key to remember Singapore isn't the Middle East. SIA : Becomes muddled between the Velocity relationship (you can redeem Velocity points for a flight to Europe) and Virgin Australia...

Qatar Airways to acquire 25% of Virgin Australia

It's really Gilbert & Tobin who submitted the application and response, not VA. VA probably had to part with $20,000 for the work. Think it's been rushed and been a little bit sloppy piece of work. Though VA also should have checked this all themselves as part of the application.

Etihad & Virgin Partnership to Finish on 1 June 2025

Qantas is exclusive with Emirates. Probably of Qantas ditching Emirates for Etihad or interlining with Etihad would be about 0.0000000000000000000000000%

Qatar Airways to acquire 25% of Virgin Australia

I just looked at delta.com and they just sell interline Jetstar and Virgin Australia flights, so I expect that's what EY will do. Delta are still operating 2 x daily flights into Sydney, they haven't gone back to the 1 daily. It's not a bad thing as you would still get the VA flight credited...

Qatar Airways to acquire 25% of Virgin Australia

The response is crystal clear that VS and SAA are unaffected. I think the wording used was very poor in the application. What they aren't budging on is a solid commitment of VA returning to Long Haul Services. However, it does mention of VA crew being skilled by Qatar in the event of its...

Velocity Business Rewards seats sold that don't exist...

So how did you log into United's website to select the seats? If you were able to log into the website with the VA PNR I'm pretty sure you will find it's a genuine ticket. To me it's more than likely that the UA booking ref is wrong. I'd recommend you contact United to confirm they have the...
