Apparently this also affects other partners that had good access to SQ business class e.g. Air Canada Aeroplan...so like the UA issue, it is not VA specific. Velocity clearly has / has had a bit of a special relationship with SQ...I've always wondered if the QR investment would change...

If you have UA miles though...clearing the upgrade list at USD600 + 30k miles (from discount economy) is pretty much a sure thing before the doors close at some point.

If they cost that number of points they're not reward seats.

Your ability to get VA flight numbers will run out by the time you reach US east coast...if they are even available at all if your plan is to try and get all this on a RTW ticket. I really doubt that the VA numbers would be able to be ticketed as part of that.

The entire upgrade list cleared...UA is very transparent with that info on the flight status page. It does only show the on the day upgrade list though...previously for flights as empty as that one I've been waitlisted for upgrade and its cleared as early as 7 days out. So in reality of the 29...

I actually thought that was already mentioned in this thread but seems not. The change in I class availability coincides exactly with the change to IN. You would think (maybe) this is more of a clumsy implementation or system issue that will be addressed...it impacts all *A partners too.

Yesterday's final seat map for UA99 MEL-LAX. Polaris went out with 19 free seats AFTER 7 upgrades were confirmed. But never at any time in the lead up to the flight was there I class inventory.

You might also consider the emergency exit rows. 5 hour flight...at least you won't have to walk the entire length of the aircraft to use the lavs.
