Credit Card Offers ANZ Frequent Flyer Platinum: 75,000 bonus Qantas Points + $100 back

As with most things in this space, YMMV is the key. I posted about my own experience earlier this year, so that is an accurate representation of the facts as I experienced in my most recent uptake of this card (third time too for me). I do not remember the exact timing of points arriving from...

They've oversold our cruise! And we got the offer!

Sounds like its time to convert those full beer glasses to empty beer glasses. No point hording the full ones too long 🍻

They've oversold our cruise! And we got the offer!

Me: Butler, my glass is half empty, can you fill it up please? Me: Butler, my glass is half full, can you fill it up please? Me: Butler, my glass twice as big as it needed to be, can you fill it up please? Me: Butler, forget the glass, just leave me the bottle. Me: Butler, this bottle has a...

They've oversold our cruise! And we got the offer!

I like to think of myself as a "my glass needs filling up" type of guy 🥃

Latest information about 28 degrees card

No way I will be spending $1000/month on the card. I just don't have that much foreign transactions to make that spend target. Many months I have none. And I am not going to forfeit $1000 spend on a points earning card for a $2 "win" value.

Latest information about 28 degrees card

Just made two international purchased today (about AUD50 in total), and just transferred the AUD into my NAB fee-free debit card and paid using PayPal. So still not sure if its worth going through the re-application process for my fairly small usage. Certainly there is no consideration from my...

Latest information about 28 degrees card

I am not willing to put in the time/effort to go down the US card track. I do not have sufficient overseas travel or international spend to warrant that. I am more concerned at saving around 3% on the international spend I do make. And I do have a no-fee card, but it is a debit card and not a...

Qantas Project Sunrise goes ahead, 12 new A350-1000s ordered

I wonder if anything has considered doing SYD-LHR-JFK-SYD, and SYD-JFK-LHR-SYD and if that might work for utilisation and avoid any extended tarmac time waiting for slots/curfews? Someone once said to me "Ahh, now you are thinking outside the box", and I looked them in the eye and said "What box?".

Latest information about 28 degrees card

Having dumped my 28 Degrees card back when they changed to fee structure and not receiving an offer for fee waiver as some had received, I was surprised to receive a new(targeted) offer via email today. Looks like they have now realised that last year's changes lost them a lot of customers...

Credit Card Offers ANZ Frequent Flyer Platinum: 75,000 bonus Qantas Points + $100 back

To be clear, I achieved the spend challenge during my second statement period. The bonus points were NOT noted on the second statement. They were identified on my third statement and landed in my QFF account the day after they appeared on the statement. So its NOT the first statement after...

Uber drivers at CNS routinely cancelling rides to manipulate surge pricing

I think it is partly explained by how we define the term "surge". While Uber may have a specific definition, my original use of the term was related to an increasing quoted price for the same trip. "Surge" or "price increase" terminology is irrelevant from my (the customer's) perspective,. And...

Uber drivers at CNS routinely cancelling rides to manipulate surge pricing

There may well be variation in terminology. The fact is that the fare quoted increased 3 times in around 6 mins, along with 2 "failed" ride engagements. Is that technically called a "surge" or is it called "demand fluctuation" is a little irrelevant from my (the customer) perspective.

Uber drivers at CNS routinely cancelling rides to manipulate surge pricing

Wow. Interesting approach. But as I have come back, here are the facts (mostly repeated from my previous posts in this thread, with some additional details added). These are facts as they are my own, very real, personal experience. Fact 1: We arrived at CNS early evening and decided to walk...

Uber drivers at CNS routinely cancelling rides to manipulate surge pricing

Hence why I will not be putting myself into a position to be exploited when I arrive into CNS and need to travel from airport to hotel. By my refusal to be exploited, both Uber and their driver will be the ones missing out on my trip.

Uber drivers at CNS routinely cancelling rides to manipulate surge pricing

"take it or leave it" is just fine. It's the "Take it and leave it" (i.e. accept and then cancel) that seems to be the problem here.

Uber drivers at CNS routinely cancelling rides to manipulate surge pricing

In my case, as noted in the original post of this thread, the cancellation did affect the pricing. My ride was cancelled multiple times in a 4 min window. Each time the app told me the driver was already at the airport and a different name was provided each booking, and each booking the quoted...
