Arriving in Darwin from Timor Leste mid afternnon with a late night flight back to Melbourne . Got booted out of the lounge late afternoon and with no flights for several hours everything shuts down.

I have often entered the booking number into the website in the past when using a travel agent, to be able to select seats. In this case when I entered the booking number and then clicked on the ‘change seats’ tab I was given the message that the booking was ineligible to select seats!

I would have been more accepting about no seat selection if another airline was selected . But we were both Qantas FF Gold flying on a Qantas plane.

Currently in Timor Leste and cash (US$) pretty much everywhere even my hotel in Dili only takes cash. Also if you are going beyond Dili make sure you have plenty of coins and low denomination notes. When you are only paying $2-$3 for a meal they find it hard to change anything more than $10!

I gave up using free Wi-Fi in Australia years ago. With my $25 plan I currently have over 600 GB of data rollover. (Perhaps it’s because I don’t watch much video) I actually find that leaving the phone Wi-Fi on is a problem as the phone keeps trying to connect to Wi-Fi’s and slows down.

I find the Qantas ‘bidding’ a joke. As I have status the only benefits to me are the seat and the meal, if it’s a daytime flight. In a real bidding system I decide how much to bid and if I lose no problem. However the level Qantas sets as the minimum bid is far too close to the actual cost...
