Skytrans to Operate Lord Howe Island Route from March 2026 - Take over from Qantaslink

It does say on the website (https://www.qantas.com/au/en/book-a-trip/flights/smartlynx-australia.html): They are apparently going to add classic rewards on after Feb 2026 but its yet to be seen. This document from a couple of days ago mentions reward seats and even an increase to carrier...

    Accor Plus Membership Discussion

Not really, some hotels might honor the benefits of the higher status member but they don't have to.

Jetstar exits HNL from Oct 2025

There has been unofficial reports on here that those on a 081 ticket can get QF lounge access if on a classic award booked on a different partner. I haven’t tried this but would be worth investigating.

This is 1 March next year, interestignly the taxes are a lot less but one other thing is it books onto the AS flight number, the actual flight number is HA452.

Major changes to Velocity Frequent Flyer announced 17/10/24

Sucks yes but it’s clear enough on the website that from 1 October anyone up for having their status assessed is under the new rules. I don’t think they’re going to be super flexible in this regard either, since they announced the changes I think they’ve been less flexible than usual. The...

    Qantas starts international wifi

In the article one thing to note about the following: The switch is from the NBN satellites (which cover Australia) to the Inmarsat satellite network. Whilst Inmarsat covers Australia I assume Qantas/Viasat gets better pricing from the NBN deal therefore more bandwidth for less.

Article: Should Airlines Keep Lounges Open for Delayed Flights?

A couple of years ago I flew VA SYD to BNE last flight of the day. There were rolling weather delays and just two flights left mine to BNE and the other to MEL (the rest had been cancelled meaning a huge crowd at the VA lounge reception). After mostly clearing the crowd (telling those with...

Jetstar Asia to shutdown on 31 July 2025

The way the commercial policy reads those on 081 Qantas tickets should be eligible for a reroute on a different carrier. In theory this also extends to rewards seats so I wonder if anyone’s had any luck getting this change.

Jetstar Asia to shutdown on 31 July 2025

Yep there were two routes they could do this on, SIN-DPS for those on 3K flights they offered a free change to the JQ flight instead and MNL-KIX (operated by 3K) where they offered a reroute on MNL-NRT-KIX operated by GK instead. For those who'd booked direct with 3K on all other routes it was...

USA Entry - CBP Mobile Passport control app [MPC]

Nope they don't ask for proof of receipt because it's in the system. That being said they could in theory send you to secondary where if you refuse to unlock your phone could (and probably would) be denied entry. That being said I've been to the US a couple of times this year and the entry with...

Virgin has quitely cancelled their newish direct BNE-AYQ flights over summer

This is correct. A re-route via Melbourne would have retained the existing booking and not made the change to the spend based SCs. It's based on the booking date so changes are exempt and retain the original booking date.

    QANTAS Cyber Incident

I thought all elevated things like transfers and changing details required an SMS or email verification at the least. I guess booking using them wouldn't but that'd be a bit more traceable?

Qantas A380 reliability issues creeping up again?

During these sorts of irregular changes close to departure most of the regular rules regarding fare type go out the window. Either call QF or use social media (facebook messenger/twitter message) and say you need to be in SIN and the 6hr delay doesn't work. There are still J seats on QF425...
