WSJ: Boeing working on 737 MAX replacement

I do get your point. Though I have to say that if they're just "rumours" I query why the WSJ would have run the story.

WSJ: Boeing working on 737 MAX replacement

The Wall Street Journal has an article about Boeing's plans for a new narrowbody to replace the 737. The headline is "Boeing has Started Working on a 737 MAX Replacement". The article is by Benjamin Katz and Drew Fitzgerald: Boeing is planning a new single-aisle airplane that would succeed...

Booking Krisflyer Awards to New Zealand

The annoying thing is that you'd need to select "Star Alliance" to find Air New Zealand flights, and "Other Partner Airlines" to find Virgin flights.

Booking Krisflyer Awards to New Zealand

Depends on what you mean. Does Singapore Airlines fly directly from Melbourne to NZ? No. (They used to fly from Melbourne to Wellington, but not any more). Can you use KrisFlyer points to fly directly from Melbourne to NZ? Yes. You can use KrisFlyer to book Air New Zealand to Auckland...

Queenstown for (octogenarian) Beginners: A Farewell to Travel.

Final reflections: Success! My one criterion for measuring success on this holiday was whether my mother enjoyed it. And she had a wonderful time. The flight in, the views, the food, the water, the lakes, mountains, the tours we did, the shopping … she enjoyed every minute of it. And she got...

Queenstown for (octogenarian) Beginners: A Farewell to Travel.

There were some lovely views as we made our descent. We landed and ran the gauntlet that is SYD international arrivals. As we walked through the Duty Free, I made sure the mantra was loudly playing through my head: “I don’t need more booze, I don’t need more booze, I don’t need more booze…”...

Queenstown for (octogenarian) Beginners: A Farewell to Travel.

I woke up just early enough on our last morning to pack and go for a very quick walk into Queenstown Gardens. We each had a slightly more indulgent breakfast than usual… Before we checked out and took an Uber into the airport. We were checked in, through Security and Passport Control, and...

My daughter is a knitter too and I FaceTimed her from Frank’s Corner. Needless to say I walked out with a bag full of wool! (among many other things).

    Palaces and The Sahara

Thanks for sharing more Le Bruns! Those are both beautiful and I particularly like the second one. Maybe I need to start planning a worldwide "Le Brun Appreciation" tour! @FlyingFiona At my recent Louvre tour, which was heavily focussed on ancient Assyrian and Mesopotamian works, the tour guide...

Queenstown for (octogenarian) Beginners: A Farewell to Travel.

It was, finally, Fergburger Time. I had a “Mr Big Stuff”, which did indeed. My mother had a “Lamby With Blue” and pronounced it delicious. After a couple of hours to recover, my mother suggested we go out at 4pm for yet more food. This time we found ourselves at Patagonia Chocolates, where...

Queenstown for (octogenarian) Beginners: A Farewell to Travel.

As I wrote above, my mother’s energy levels have increased over the week as her confidence and enjoyment of Queenstown and New Zealand has grown. So on Wednesday she told me that she could handle a half-day tour on Friday. We had three options: Glenorchy, Wanaka, or a “Queenstown Highlights”...

Queenstown for (octogenarian) Beginners: A Farewell to Travel.

The ship docked at 3:30pm and we were hurried back onto our bus to try to beat the weather. I did struggle a bit with this final leg: 10 hours on a bus is a long time! But the views on the way back, at least before sunset, were spectacular too. And we were “entertained” (if you can call it...

Queenstown for (octogenarian) Beginners: A Farewell to Travel.

Milford Sound was every bit as spectacular and amazing as I remember it. During the two-hour cruise up the Sound to the Tasman Sea and back, at times the sun threatened to peek through… At other times it rained quite heavily… We saw cascades and waterfalls (and learned that the two are...

Queenstown for (octogenarian) Beginners: A Farewell to Travel.

Thank you so much! This is the last full day of our trip and it has been everything I had hoped for. In fact, my mother and I were just walking back from having a coffee, cake and ice cream, and she announced: "I like this place. And it's only a two and a half hour flight from Sydney. They...

Queenstown for (octogenarian) Beginners: A Farewell to Travel.

I had considered Milford Sound to be a “must see” on this trip. The problem is that Milford Sound is a 600km round trip by road from Queenstown. It can be done in a day – but only just. Before this trip I had gently encouraged my mother do consider an overnight trip. My first and only visit to...

10% bonus miles when converting bank points into Asia Miles

Good question. There's not a simple answer. The first thing to consider is that Qatar flies to many, many more destinations in Europe than Cathay does. So in that basic sense yes, of course, it's "easier" to get a Qatar redemption to Europe because they fly to Europe many, many more times per...

Is Velocity estore working for anyone?

I agree that this is quite incompetent for Velocity. Really they should have fixed this by now. For me, the only way that I could get it to work was by logging in under my wife's Velocity number. It worked for her, for some reason, but not for me.

So glad that there's another Vigee Le Brun fan on AFF! But each of the artworks you posted about are spectacular. Wondering now how I can somehow organise another visit to the National Gallery after 23 years.
