I've always been impressed with the US airports, at least major ones I've been through like DFW, ATL, etc, that manage to connect your bag through on very short connecting itineraries (45 minutes or even less). They also have very efficient bag delivery systems if your bag does misconnect...

Bit late to reply here, but note that you would be able to also credit the SQ flights to SQ's program or another StarAlliance carrier that you might have an account with, like United. Getting double the points is a small benefit of getting booked onto another alliance/airline....

I'm glad you got an agent who knew the process (and had the right authorisation) to convert the seat to a classic reward and thus allow rebooking of your ticket onto the flight you wanted. This is a much better outcome than what we've seen in the past where the agents claim there are no seats...

I know this isn't a JQ thread, but I don't understand why they are offering more PE seats on the 787 but at the same time converting many routes to A321's with no PE seats at all? While I can understand not offering them on domestic routes where they are worried about taking business from QF...

Cathay has generally been fine worldwide about accepting OW Elites (unlike say, QR), unless there's a real capacity crunch. So as long as the pax are OWS or OWE (with any airline), when flying FJ code (or any OW code), they should be allowed. But for non-elites flying FJ in business...

Some of the bulk head aisle seats are among the worst seats in the plane, with everyone bumping into your legs as they navigate past the bulkhead or nearby toilet, etc. Maybe still worth it for neighbour free, but it's definitely not a seat I would want.
