I cancelled my subscription soon after signing up (at half price) last year. The benefits were due to expire on Dec 29. I didn't receive an offer in email but I just logged on and saw the offer there, so I have renewed and it shows I will be charged $35 again at the renewal time.

You seem to be all for a benefit that you can enjoy (rolling over SC) but not one that you (I assume) already have (lounge). If a PC+ member doesn't fly much, giving them lounge access shouldn't impact others much, so why the concern? If they choose QF over other carriers for those few trips...
