    Fly Ahead on Qantas

When airport enables flow forward - which happens often in SYD and MEL, everyone can do it in the app regardless of the fare. He would have ‘usually’ had the app offer it for this reason. Outside of this, it’s flex fare or staff discretion. If you’re booked in J, it should be flex.

Good News! Pyjamas on (almost) all Qantas international flights in J!

    SYD all-day check in status?

FWIW I checked in today (SYD F counter) at 11:00am for a 17:50 flight as this post made me curious so I didn’t do OLCI. HLO, but she did inquire if I had bags to check, so assume that also wouldn’t be a problem.

Pax putting phone on speaker mode throughout flight and ignoring crew requests

That’s textbook de-escalation technique. De-escalation is not “being nice”. It’s about assertively communicating what options are available and letting the other person choose the path to take. The crew in the OP case were either a bit lazy (didn’t want to engage) or need a refresher. (But...

Qantas double status credits: Register & book between 12-18 March 2025

Correct. Registration and booking are independent actions that have to happen during the booking window. It’s your final registration and selection (SC or points) at the end of the booking window that matters. This is also why you can toggle between SC and points option during the booking...

    Qantas flight time changes

Pure laziness would be repeating mistakes of the past and sticking to the same schedule even if it didn’t work. Further, each season the lines of flying (sequence of flights each aircraft operates) and availability for each airframe change, that will inevitably require some adjustments to...

    QF768 Sat 12 April B737 subbed for A332

Fares are not set based on aircraft type. What you seeing is cheaper fare buckets sell out quicker on 330s.

New Qantas route - Perth to Paris from July 2024

Probably not. But light Y, full P/E + freight yes. But even if not profitable in one direction, loss may be offset on inbound.

New Qantas route - Perth to Paris from July 2024

Enough to make what is already a payload restricted premium heavy sector viable. BITRE data shows some freight stats but freight is not only weight, it’s volumetric space as well that makes money.

Article: Latest Changes May Not Fix Qantas’ Reward Availability Problem

SCL is a hard one, as LATAM gets hard block of seats in Y and J. Therefore QF capacity is significantly lower than the config. People may see empty seats but those do not belong to QF. Like your flatmate’s milk in the fridge - you can’t touch it.

New Qantas route - Perth to Paris from July 2024

SYDLAX could have 50% load factors in some months - in one direction - yet the route is viable. Need to look at load factors of the round trip service - 65% based on this data. (Besides, November is one of those months again - right after school holidays.)

End of school holidays in AU outbound loads are light. Inbound load factor CDGPER is still very good.
