Card payment sucharges banned in Australia from 2026

I share this view. While the banks of course profit from current arrangements, whether you pay by rewards credit card, no-rewards credit card or debit card, they clip the ticket no matter what. If they lose their interchange, they'll simply stop purchasing Qantas points. Qantas is the biggest...

Qantas rolls out Classic Plus Flight Rewards

That's the problem. Even when Classic Plus appear to be 'good' value because they're cheaper than Classic, it's only because Classic awards are bad value (compared to the cash price), not because Classic Plus are good value.

    Qantas' New A321XLR

Has anyone had a positive experience on a long-haul narrow body aircraft? I keep seeing reviews of Iberia's A321XLR long-haul routes and they uniformly complain about the many compromises that have to be made compared to a wide body (eg this business class one & this economy class one).

Are there blackout dates for bus class redemptions on Cathay or Qatar?

Not necessarily. Because anyone with access to BA/IB/AY/etc as a transfer partner has access to QR because Avios is a single currency. And you can easily buy Avios.

Are there blackout dates for bus class redemptions on Cathay or Qatar?

I'd say Cathay is probably the better option because fewer Australians have access to Cathay miles than Avios, and they are generally good at releasing availability to their own members, but it comes in waves and is not guaranteed.

JAL 777-300ER back on Sydney route

My word, those prices are highway robbery when compared to some other programs now:

Are there blackout dates for bus class redemptions on Cathay or Qatar?

You're unlikely to get 4x J on either airline. Maybe 2x saver and 2x flexi on QR if you're really, really lucky. And yes, both do not guarantee availability over peak season, so they may release nothing. Singapore is the only airline flying to Europe that reliably releases 4x J seats at the...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

C1 has added JAL as a transfer partner. There's lots of availability for 2 pax in F on SYD-HND-SYD flights.

Yes. You'll need to pay the change fee.

Card payment sucharges banned in Australia from 2026

Yes, the RBA is completely unphased by the banks' efforts to save the existing arrangements: 'She also questioned the fairness of frequent flyer points linked to credit card loyalty programs, saying younger, lower-income consumers were unfairly paying hidden fees that funded rewards for...

Are the days of Points collecting over?

I'm making more off the points game than I ever have, so don't intend on quitting anytime soon 😉 I'm talking about the game as a whole. And it's unquestionable that the game as a whole is degrading in Australia, and will degrade a whole lot more if the RBA changes come into effect. As that...

Are the days of Points collecting over?

To give you a sense of what the future might look like. No one 'games' Delta miles anymore because their points are worth a fixed value. Millions of people still collect Delta miles because they have a value — if you're going to spend money on a credit card and fly Delta, you might as well...

Are the days of Points collecting over?

Many, many, many programs have gone that way. More generally, this is what has happened to the points space for Australians just this year: Points Redemptions - Devaluation of Qantas points (classic and classic plus) - Devaluation of Singapore points - Devaluation of Velocity points -...

And if every point was worth 1c each off a cash fare, where would be your sweet spot or loophole? Sounds like I found your breaking point pretty easily 😂
