    Seat selection in new system?

As another data point, I asked at the lounge (~20 min before boarding) whether there were any seats further forward for the two of us and was told 'no nothing together'. Seemed fair enough, but at the gate a family was reissued boarding passes and ended up in rows 5 and 6 on the left hand side...

    Seat selection in new system?

Haha, indeed it couldn't find my booking from my Velocity number.

    Seat selection in new system?

Yeah seems really shabby. Low-res bitmap PDF!? Makes no sense. Also why doesn't the flight reminder email have a direct link to OLCI? The link supposedly goes to the OLCI tab on on the front page, but even then in my browser it remained on the default tab. Is it even possible to go from a...

Golds make your voices heard regarding the new seating choice arrangements!

I'm not sure what was unclear about your experiences being less representative of the frequent flyer population than those of all members of this forum taken collectively (of which you are a subset). This is trivially true, and does not discount your experiences. If AFF's membership is a...

Golds make your voices heard regarding the new seating choice arrangements!

I meant across a population, not within an individual. Several of us have suggested more broadly palatable alternatives. I still maintain that the changes as they currently stand are overkill; I hope they will consider revising them. I suspect we'll have to disagree on this.

Golds make your voices heard regarding the new seating choice arrangements!

I claimed "by and large seating was working fine". Big difference. As I already said, plenty of grievances are aired here daily. In the face of that, you will struggle to convince me that a privately-loud but publicly-quiet majority were repeatedly afflicted with poor seating options. If...

Golds make your voices heard regarding the new seating choice arrangements!

Of course posts in this forum suggest that your experience is far from universal. Oh sure, but why make it a large negative change for golds rather than a positive change for platinums? e.g., simplest would have been to let platinums choose at time of booking, the rest following the old rules...

Golds make your voices heard regarding the new seating choice arrangements!

But it wasn't enough of an issue for your displeasure to rise above the noise level in this forum. And there is plenty of displeasure aired here daily. Perhaps Virgin just went for low-hanging fruit rather than dealing with the most pressing grievances, and/or are projecting large growth in...

Golds make your voices heard regarding the new seating choice arrangements!

Bit strange eh. Wasn't enough of a problem for you to care about it 3 weeks ago: "The only 2 enhancements to the program I would like to see are status credits for points and a business lounge." That thread does not make a strong case for widespread disappointment at seating assignments. Nor do...

    Seat selection in new system?

Put it this way. If AFF is a representative sample of outspoken frequent flyers, the relative amount of complaining about an issue should be indicative of whether it is a major problem. By this measure, access to row 3 was simply not a major issue. Obviously anyone who has gained from the...

    Seat selection in new system?

Presumably the lounge staff will not enjoy being asked by every single gold member whether they can move forward from their row 7+ seat.. This change seems overkill in the same vein as removing silvers from priority check-in. Were there really that many disgruntled platinums in row 4? I suppose...

    Seat selection in new system?

So not even when checking in online after T-24?

    New booking engine is up

Interesting, so mobile check-in opens 24 h before seats open up for non-platinums? Same for online? Also, wonder if the new system allows repeating mobile/online check-in multiple times.

    New booking engine is up

Yep disappointing for me too. I quite liked that 14-day-in-advance seat selection meant I didn't really need to do online check in anywhere near T-24 h, oh well back to sniping what's left as soon as it opens...

    New booking engine is up

Interestingly here the actual price can come out slightly lower. Looking at BNE-SYD where the one-way is listed as $109, as a return booking the two legs are $110.90 and $110.89 but the eventual total is $218...so why not just show $109 each way?! I guess the imprecision is needed to accommodate...

I can log into Velocity right now, though it seems that my number of SCs earned for maintaining status is currently 0 instead of 400...

    New booking engine is up

The prices 'are estimates' thing is strange, as is the fact that they're shown differently for one-ways and returns. Why can't the price below the radio button be the actual total?

Virgin Mobile Credit to be discountinued from Jan 6th

It doesn't state it definitively, but I'm inclined to think that "We will be taking final bookings for this offer on 6 January 2013" implies it refers to the booking date rather than the flight date. I was always concerned when the Virgin Mobile site said "We normally give you 5% bonus mobile...

Virgin Mobile Credit to be discountinued from Jan 6th

I too am very disappointed by this. Probably sufficiently disappointed to leave Virgin Mobile when my contract ends. I've quite liked not needing to pay phone bills...

"Do you know how tall I am ?"

Perhaps a more complicated example: the window seats at the back of a 747 where the seating is only two abreast and there's large gap between the seat and the window. People often put their bag/blanket/pillow/everything into the gap, which then means 'your' space under the seat in front is...
