    Brisbane Airbridge strikes again!

There’s very clearly marked positions on the tarmac that the bridge must be parked in before you taxi in. It could be outside of the box, but still not blocking the view.

    Air India B787 crash Ahmedabad

I don't think they really did that though. Adding reaction time into things is a normal aviation trait. I suspect it was mostly movie drama, as if the real thing wasn't dramatic enough. Intentional misleading by Boeing. Very sad display. Typical. 95% noise, and the occasional gem. Biggest...

    Air India B787 crash Ahmedabad

You'd be amazed at how many people, with only the tiniest bit of actual aviation knowledge, think they can judge pilots. I guess the same applies to many other careers/jobs/skills. I was on a crew bus, not long after QF30, and I overheard one CC say to another "It wasn't a real...

Do a bit of research on the whisper program against Captain Peter Burkill within BA after the 777 accident at Heathrow.

    Air India B787 crash Ahmedabad

I’ve seen QF’s response to major incidents in the past, RdC’s for example. Information came quickly from the Chief Pilot, as you’d expect. There was total silence from the various CEOs, simply because they don’t know, and are simply SLF as far as the pilots are concerned. So if VH were to pop up...

    Air India B787 crash Ahmedabad

What would they investigate? The odds against the multiple failures might be immense, but so were the odds against a random oxygen bottle explosion. And someone wins lotto each week. I’m not hearing anything from my 787 contacts. It’s the same reason I’ve never really liked ETOPS. It’s just a...

    Air India B787 crash Ahmedabad

It was ANA. There's a little information here (ANA Boeing 787 dual engine shutdown upon landing - SamChui.com). It's worth noting that ANA subsequently came out saying there was no engine failure. The trail seems to end there.

    Air India B787 crash Ahmedabad

For pretty obvious reasons, I had no interest in JQ and 787s, but I don't think they have any. Which doesn't sound possible. I really don't know why he's on this at all. As far as I know it's never happened in any operation, and innumerable airliners are operating in hot climates every day.

    Qantas' New A321XLR

There's something basically wrong with a 330 using that flight number!

    Brisbane Airbridge strikes again!

I wonder where the bridge was, when the aircraft came in?

TBA on that, though I'd be tempted to say that we might already have been told if it was the same as Jeju. There are four high power buses, each fed by a different generator. How likely is it that four do so? Apparently at the same time. I think you need to be looking further upstream for your...

    Air India B787 crash Ahmedabad

I've not been able to find a definite answer for that. But, if it rotates to that position for packaging reasons, then any change occurring prior to extension could cause it to hang up on part of the structure, and that would impede the alternate (i.e. gravity) extension. Normal Boeing procedure...

    Air India B787 crash Ahmedabad

It would be speculation if we were attempting to narrow down the start point in this accident chain. But, we’re slowly finding, and pointing out, facts. They point to a couple of issues, but don’t come close to identifying the start. So, known: Airborne, and at a couple of hundred feet, prior...

And the next item. If you look carefully at the images, you can see that the APU door is clearly open. It will automatically start with major electrical or engine issues.

Discussion now about the position, in particular the tilt, of the landing gear. The first part of the retraction sequence moves the tilt from the front wheels being higher to lower ( think of it as nose down). This would almost certainly be for packaging reasons during retraction. In the images...

    Strangest (weirdest) in-flight passenger antics?

There's a story about a Mirage pilot, supposedly flying between Townsville and Darwin, who needed to go. On a live bang seat. And, as the story goes, a glove. It can't be true, 'cos Mirage pilots weren't that accurate.

I wonder what they define as “almost all”. The last FR24 point is about 300’ before the end, and has them at 625’. Corrected, that altitude is more like 200’ or so AGL. Assuming an achieved gradient of 10 degrees, that would put their liftoff point at about 1,500’ from the end. A more realistic...

    Air India B787 crash Ahmedabad

Probably a lot less. Call it 50-60% of TOGA (this is really based on aircraft like the 767, with dumb fuel systems, that didn’t need electricity for everything). That would be enough to keep flying, but less than you’d need for a normal approach. Nowhere near enough to fly away. Presumably 50%...

    Air India B787 crash Ahmedabad

Top of one wing, and bottom of the other. Common enough. 1749979045 I think you’ll find that it’s just the rest position that it assumes without pressure holding it elsewhere.
