Changes to Qantas Travel Money effective 27 February 2024

I still have $10K USD on mine that I bought at about 96c. Not 100% happy about the idea of it now being run by a "non-bank", even if they are properly licenced etc. Just need to get back to the USA to spend it!

Have QF really cut back classic domestic awards or is it just me?

Coming back to this thread after being busy for a couple of days... Ok, I'm Gold now, not WP when I was last seriously looking at booking domestic flights. But I've tried when logged in and logged out and see the same availability (i.e. almost none), so I'm unsure if status has a huge amount to...

Have QF really cut back classic domestic awards or is it just me?

Back in the day (i.e. pre-Covid) I'm sure I could get a classic MEL/ADL award, usually in J but ALWAYS in Y, with a week or two's notice no problem at all. Looking 3 weeks ahead at the moment for MEL-ADL on a Thursday and other than one red-eye on QF in Y and a few JQ flights, everything else...

    Baggage Allowance Question - QF/BA

Upgrade to Business using Qantas points on Emirates flight

ISTR Qantas were making noises a few years ago about introducing points upgrades on EK metal but I guess it was all too hard...

Qantas Extends Olive Branch to Hobart Flyer

Amusing that WP and PS get exactly the same benefits. Qantas really going all out there for their premium flyers.

Purchased a Qantas Flex fare but when I requested a refund they insist it is "Red-E Deal"

I mean the very fact that you were able to change not just the date but the routing for only $110, with no change fee, seems like proof to me that your original fare was a Flex. Sale fares from Canada have a change fee of $500 per person.

    Codeshare question

Finnair operate the flight between HEL and SIN, they're not likely to sell you a codeshare on a flight they operate themselves. The only way would be to book through Qantas.

Qantas Club Lifetime Membership Benefits Removal

I bought it at the same age (although it was early 2000s). Then I got gold about 3-4 years later and have never been lower than that since. Now have lifetime gold. So for me, rather than foresight, life membership was a complete waste of money

    Qantas Family Points Transfer Expiry

Unfortunately I think they are gone, the only way I've heard of Qantas reinstating expired points is via some sort of challenge (earn X points in Y different ways within 3 months or something) and it seems unlikely your daughter would be able to fulfill that. For future reference, you can...

    Qantas club changes?

Priority check-in effectively disappeared domestically when they rolled out the q-tags and self-service baggage check in, really.

    Why was I upgraded?

My only (that I remember) international op up was on SYD-EZE in the same conditions; booked in Y+ and op up to J without any explanation. Coming back we got J seating but with Y+ service so I have yet to actually sit in a Y+ seat!

    Strategy to obtain UK Amex

It was a new application - I kept my Australian amex cards. At the time I applied I was living in the UK so I had a permanent address, and was able to provide a bill (council tax) with my name and address on it. I have a UK offshore bank account which I can pay the Amex from but Amex themselves...

    Strategy to obtain UK Amex

My own experience, getting a UK Amex was easy, you really just need a UK address and to actually be in the UK for a while in case they call you (they called me about 3 days after I applied). The BA card is fine, it's free, you get the usual Amex offers (and there are heaps more of them in the...

ACCC action re cancelled Qantas flights

I think QF are taking a risk here. If their Contract of Carriage winds up being ruled unenforceable by the Federal Court it's going to open up a much bigger can of worms for them.

New Qantas route - Perth to Paris from July 2024

It makes sense they would go high initially on a new route to try to establish what people are willing to pay for a non-stop flight. I imagine there'll be sale fares eventually.

Yes it's a toss-up which is worse, at least LHR has better OW lounges.
