QF are clearly moving more and more towards the only real benefit of mid-tier status being lounge access and increased baggage allowance. All the other little niceties of both Gold and WP are gradually being whittled away.
Referring to the original quote, would the mooted CR+ really count as a "major investment"? Or is there something else coming as well?

I think if it's the last leg of the booking there won't be an issue. You might run into problems if it wasn't the last leg, then there could be a risk of later legs being cancelled. But if the rest of you check-in and show up at the airport it seems unlikely they'd deny you boarding just because...

There's also rumours of Qantas introducing a monthly plan; might be worth holding on and trying to scrounge entry passes unless you have a lot of travel planned.
On MEL-SYD the other day in J, the FA came to my partner and I and discreetly offered us first choice from the lunch menu. Nice to know that even as a lowly LTG it's still possible to outrank everyone else in the business cabin :cool:
