Just in addition to this I thought I'd mention that I also called a couple of weeks before the annual fee hit and was offered 40k. 50k was offered and accepted a week after the annual fee hit.

My annual fee hit a week ago so just called up and was offered 50k points to stay. I also had the spend 4k and get 40k bonus points by 30th April so factored that in deciding to keep the card for another year.

That sucks. I was originally booked on the 3.20pm departure but changed to 2pm to get into NAD a bit earlier and and to fly on the A350.
