    Qantas Points Club Discussion

As with others with an end September qualification year, it is a bother that the gifts won't count to next year. We also got the shorter straw with one of the COVID extensions. Ah well, don't look a gift horse in the mouth, I guess.

Maybe they're going to finally fix the bug which is preventing me from viewing the zero lounge passes I have available.

    NAB acquires Citibank Australia

My previously Citibank Visa plus debit account, which had been transitioned into a nab account , was cancelled with no notice received by me. It's possible mail was stolen or I missed a call (which I would have ignored) but I think it was a pretty poor effort (if there was any effort at all)...

    Woolworths gift card thread

About 36 hours later, glad to report all cards now working at post bill pay Have never had an issue in the past using cards straight after activation. I usually like to do so just to reduce chance of hacking or misplacing them, but working after a while is better than not working at all, I guess.

    Woolworths gift card thread

Gift $100s bought today are being declined tonight at my local council (bpoint), post billpay, and post billpay via paypal with "Decline Code 03 - Invalid Merchant". Checking online, it does show there's an $100 balance, though it does say 'pending'. Will be a real pain if these can't be used...

    Woolworths gift card thread

1.19c/qffp or a loss of $0.95 per card if converting to woolies pesos. Adding ~105 qffp with a 1c/p credit card brings it to just under 1c/p. Hardly lucrative but may help with questing for points club - over 7 days could clear 21k points, more if different varieties are treated differently

Same happened to me a few weeks back. I wasn't about to redo a trolley full of shopping. Checked out and then went to woolies for the next month

Solar Panel, Power & Battery Discussion

The shorthand in my scenario is there's no difference in WA with one state-owned provider - arbitrage with a 10c/kwh peak FIT is unlikely to be below a warrantable kwh cost unless batteries drop significantly further. So self-consumption is the only way to 'make money back', which in turn...

Solar Panel, Power & Battery Discussion

Definitely. That's why I'm working this maths so hard. Payback won't land til year 9 or 10 based on current numbers so want to be sure we count it correctly

Solar Panel, Power & Battery Discussion

Where abouts are you in Australia and/or what's the effective seniors discount? The general rule seems to be that a right sized (for your consumption) solar system pays itself back long before the warranty is up, but batteries are marginal and more dependent on your individual use case. Of...

Solar Panel, Power & Battery Discussion

I like the way you simplify this to cost of charging + cost of storage, makes it easy to decide if to sell when feed in tarriff exceeds the sum of these.

    Qantas x July

Semi-regional Indonesia. I suspect the airtag didn't ping as online until it came within range of my iPad (i don't even currently use an iPhone myself). Looking around the room of people waiting at the baggage carousel, lots of android devices - of course there could have been i-things in...

Solar Panel, Power & Battery Discussion

Yes, synergy (govt owned) is the retailer for households. Makes comparing choices a little easier! The opportunity for energy trading sounds exciting, especially if significantly exceeding the effective cost-per-kwh dividing the cost of a battery by the number of warranted KWH it can discharge...

Solar Panel, Power & Battery Discussion

Bumping this thread, I've been working on a simple app to calculate whether a battery is a viable add on for someone with existing solar, using actual usage data rather than the very generous estimates and averages often on solar providers' websites. In other words, if I had a 10kwh battery...
