Answer: It depends. Best backpack for me, being HLO and aiming for 8kg, is Kathmandu Litehaul 38L. Good quality, good size, light, enough pockets, good laptop protection, good straps.
My comment would be that if you are pushing towards 12-14kg with HLO then don't do it. HLO is great when it is about 7-8kg, so carrying a backpack in/out of metro stations, trains, buses, cars etc is manageable and definitely the way to travel (we do this all the time).
But if it is 14kg, then...
Exactly. They are returning home from work, and so am I (specifically a work trip). Priority security and passport control is different as they need to get to their plane by a certain time to go through all the preparations for the flight.
Put a sign up so I can decide to go to Didi instead.
Same boat. It's the SQ flights (mainly Y) which have me requalifying as VA WP each year, and I need that status in order to make flying int Y bearable. As a consequence, I also choose to fly VA domestically where possible. So it's self-defeating.
On the search page of the DB website, there is an option "Transfer time" on the third line of the search bars. Here you can change from "Normal" to a longer time of your choice.
Exactly. The investment horizon is still about 20 to 30 years!

We are up about 15% FYTD before the last week, so a 2% correction is not even a blip.
I would have earned/retained WP on the basis of the new rules in only one year out of the last 10, I reckon. Lots of SQ flights have kept me ticking over, not many VA flights. So highly likely to drop status next year.
I am still likely to fly VA domestic as the only alternatives are QF and...
He means that you probably would have dropped status anyway, despite your HA flights, because of the requirement for at least 50% of status credits to be earned by you on VA metal.
Could you please explain how this is different/better than just using my Australian mobile number with wifi calling to receive calls when I am o/s (and connected to my hotel wifi, for example). Thanks.
You said: "Although for all the talk of JH recently about the new services bringing in extra tourists, I still can’t see if/how you can book ex Europe..." The new services are likely bringing in extra tourists, even if QR ticketed. They are extra services.
Just note that, while this card sounds good with "no fees", the exchange rate they give you when loading foreign money is horrendous. Just looked today: AUD to USD is 0.595, whereas Mastercard standard rate is 0.625.
So that's a 4.8% margin for Qantas. Highway robbery.
