    Melbourne SkyBus gone up again

That’s an excellent point. I once had a delayed QR or EK flight back to MEL and had no ‘public’ options to get home and to add insult to injury was forced to accept the surge pricing with uber…which was >$100

You and me both (re cheap southern accomodation)! In my first trip to EU after covid I spent 7 nights in the Pestana on Gran Via in Madrid in peak summer for 747 EUR (king bed, rooftop pool with sunbeds, al fresco rooftop buffet breakfast included). Now it’s 3 x that price! Funny you should say...

    Melbourne SkyBus gone up again

At some point if it reaches $30 that would be about half the price of an uber from my apartment, with my complimentary uber one membership (from my CBA ultimate rewards card) - i’ll probably never use Skybus again ! Just madness as it doesn’t even get you home and terminates at Southern X where...

I wanted accomodation right next to Ostbahnhof as it’s the perfect station for me to get everywhere I normally need to quickly in Berlin (and is often a stop on the intercity DB trains in Germany with no need to get to the Hauptbahnhof first)

I originally found it on booking.com but it was more exy (suspect they were taking a cut), so I went to the source and was very pleased I did!

Curious, was the queue for door ticket sales or even for ppl with advanced purchases? In peak travel season Aug ‘23 I managed to walk straight into the Picasso Museum in Barcelona with my pre-bought ticket and no line (although VERY crowded inside). It was a rather small exhibit tho…no idea what...

Bit off topic, so apologies in advance, but I suspect the difficulty in speaking German is getting the grammar right - ie ordering your nouns, (ad)verbs and adjectives, conjugating the verbs correctly, remembering gender, and getting those damn pronouns right (which I struggle a lot with) Much...

I booked a large double bed room, not the single bed one (it was cheaper in Dec; although at EUR1320 for 28 days during Euro summer the single bed was very tempting!) Too old to skimp on mattress space - it’s my 40th bday trip after all! Can’t be travelling like i’m in my 20’s again haha

Thanks @Seat0B ! I’ve done MAD and BCN to death (both 2 x in last 2 years alone) and was keen on building a long itinerary to tick off the other cities (1 month in Spain and 1 month ‘working from home’ in BER to improve my budding German!) I’m going back to MAD for Madrid Pride, which I went...

    SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

As a datapoint, i’ve never had any luck with this (eg, combining KF SQ saver J MEL-SIN-FRA with *A LH J saver FRA-BER). The general consensus over at Flyertalk seems to be that you need *A J saver availability for all sectors, but there have been a couple of instances I’ve read that ppl have...

The Master SQ Guide (Krisflyer, Waitlists & Waitlists Clearing)

I fly SQ pretty frequently to Europe and from my experience with tight connections in SIN misconnecting is very rare, partly because Changi is such an easy and quick airport to navigate but having security at the gates means you’re not bottlenecked with other passengers from a myriad of other...

QF status credits on Envoy Air

Apologies if this has been covered in another thread, but I can’t seem to find an answer to this anywhere…I’ve got a return trip to USA/Canada booked with the first inbound segment departing from YYZ connecting to QF22 at DFW back to MEL on a QF marketed (QF4622) flight operated by Envoy Air as...

    First Saver Availability

The same route I booked this year was available earlier this year…SQ F saver ZRH-SIN-MEL was available for August 2024 as late as July 2024 (I tentatively snagged them then, but got pts refunded when my plans changed) I think KF release last minute F saver awards on the ZRH to MEL route to...

    First Saver Availability

As a lowly Krisflyer non-elite, I snagged an F saver ZRH-SIN-MEL for mid August 2025 a couple of weeks ago (LHR was also available but I wanted to avoid the hefty UK APD) The last time I checked F saver was also available peak travel time FRA-SIN-MEL for 29th July 2025

Out of options to churn Velocity cards, any suggestions?

There’s also Coles Rewards Mastercard - but a pretty low bonus of 50k Flybuys pts…and also NAB owned…upshot is you can apply for a low 1k limit if combined limit is becoming a problem…

Bit of a misnomer actually - couldn’t get time off work on my actual birthday so the trip is actually in the weeks leading up to it. A sort of last hurrah to my 30’s 🥳🥂☀️
