I believe they are referring to a Wish gift card, which can be used at Woolies, Big W, etc. Other points remain valid.

As soon as I click to the generic Platinum benefits page while logged in, the 'Logout' button changes to 'Login', so maybe it has backend issues and that is why you are not able to enrol in the various benefits?

Mine is the same. I assume it is because 150k for the new customer plus 50k for the referrer = 200k, so if they are not paying a referrer they give it all to the new customer.

I believe United release J reward seats to VA (and other partners) very close to departure, ie. within 2 weeks or so. So you could look for availability on Velocity and if there is some, try calling up to change and pay the additional points and change fee.

From memory, you get an email from Star Alliance pretty quickly asking you to choose your preferred status airline, and then you have to wait for them to confirm you have received the status. General consensus seems to be that this always takes the full 2 weeks, but YMMV.

Yeah has unfortunately always been like that. Had to do the same thing in Vancouver (although with significantly less than 100 options) where you click on each option, click through to check how far away it is on Google maps, then go back to the app and look at the next one.

I previously managed to do seat selection on my FJ flights to YVR booked through QF, but I can't actually remember how! Assuming you have tried through QF MMB, my next option would be to try other OneWorld airlines MMB pages. RJ is usually pretty useful.
